The New Schalke aka Domenico Tedesco Sack Watch
Schalke, notorious for treating their coaches like shit and firing them every ten months, never winning anything, always messing up good beginnings, erratic club and squad management, seemed to have turned a page with the installment of long-serving Mainz DoF Heidel and the recruitment of Augsburg's terrific coach Markus Weinzierl.
They added Baba, who played for Weinzierl in his breakout season at Augsburg, Naldo from Wolfsburg, Stambouli and Bentaleb for midfield, Embolo and Konoplyanka for attack.
Some great acquisitions. To further get the balance between experience and their hughly talented youngsters right, they added Sevilla's Coke who unfortunately got badly injured before the season even started.
Everything seemed set for a good season, and for the beginning of sustainable development of a great team.
Weinzierl wasn't in danger after the initial losses. He's a good coach, he's trusted, Schalke surely want to give him all the time he needs.
But now, Schalke have started the season with four consecutive losses, and are on the road to the fifth defeat, down to Hoffenheim, as I write this.
Not a single point gained.
Worst season start ever. This is absolutely horrendous
Surely, Schalke really do not want to fire Weinzierl, like not at all.
But there comes a point when it's practically impossible to see an alternative to sacking him.
Will the point be reached today?
Or will Schalke do what BVB did in Klopp's last season, and stick with the manager even though it's thoroughly against every instinct?

I just saw an interview with Heidel and it seems that he rather questions the attitude of the players than the coach. And frankly, if you look at the amount of coaches they have gone through recently, it can't have been all the fault of the coaches.

I wonder what Weinzierl has to say for himself.
He's flopping monumentally. Schalke keeps producing absolutely shocking performances.

Weinzierl sacked after one season.
New coach: Domenic Tedesco, a random kid who has 3 months of 2nd Bundesliga coaching experience on top of some youth team coaching.

Tedesco was awarded a Coach of the Year award among fellow trainee coaches in 2015/16. During the second half of last season, he took charge of second-division side FC Erzgebirge Aue, where he kept them up thanks to a strong run towards the end of the season.

Domenico Tedesco
He has the name of a South Italian greengrocer, and moreover Tedesco means German so it's hilarious he is going to coach there.
Hard taking serious Schalke now.

Bundesliga debut with a convincing 2:0 victory over Leipzig
Much more convincing than the shaky win over BFC Dynamo last week

Important match for the kiddo now. At home against newly promoted Stuttgart. A loss and Tedesco will be under pressure, already, especially as the fans are already on the fence over his role in the Höwedes exit.

Pretty decent win, especially since it'll be very easy to sell the idea that it was a brilliant half-time speech by the coach that won the match.
He still won't see the end of the season as a Gelsenkirchener, though.

2nd season of this nobody, 5 games in, 5 defeats, no points, lst place.
His comment: "We have to continue like that".
Surely just a matter of time now.

Re: The New Schalke aka Domenico Tedesco Sack Watch
Surely one of the worst and most unqualified coaches ever to work in Bundesliga.
Baffling he's still allowed to work as Schalke manager. Completely random, clueless kid who keeps losing while displaying shit on a stick football
If he isn't fired after this I don't know what tbh

Re: The New Schalke aka Domenico Tedesco Sack Watch
So I wrote the above in December and it's March now.
Schalke haven't moved away from the relegation-threatened zone all season.
Right now 23 points from 24 games, losing 0:4 at home against Düsseldorf last week.
In the meantime DoF Christian Heidel, the man who was supposed to bring consistency and sustainable success to Schalke after all, much lauded and highly rated from his DoF work at Mainz, has thrown in the towel and resigned.
Baffingly, Tedesco is still there.
The kid who has done nothing whatsoever to even warrant getting a Bundesliga level job, and since getting it has done an increasingly terrible job.
But if media are to be believed, tonights game away at Werder might, finally, be his do or die game.
No win tonight, and he's gone.
Needless to say, it will not be a win.

Tedesco sacked.
Mike Büskens and Huub Stevens take over interim, in what might be the most doubly unoriginal appointment ever
