I'm down to do that. Want to watch amazing television atm. So if season 2 is amazing I'll get on it.
Season 2 is so amazing. Still furious about the lack of Emmy noms for acting.
Season1 second half is good, but 2 is where it's at.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
So started watching Mad Men and The Leftovers. 2 episodes into both. Mad Men I'm hooked. Don Draper is alpha as hell. The Leftovers is kind of meh and slow but I'll power through it until it gets good.

Mad Men is one of the best series of all time. The writing, acting and social commentary it presents is unbelievable. Probably the series I miss the most.

There used to be a time when we had Mad Men, Breaking Bad AND Game of Thrones
No TV series quite replaced these two since then. I thought Mr. Robot would be that but nope.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
my viewing schedule used to be stacked with shows throughout the week
Mondays with dat lineup ffs
TV in general struggling to live up to that consistency tbh, you get a few here and there but IMO the quality has gone down

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
meh. Bigger budgets doesn't necessarily mean the quality is increasing across the board. I admit some of the stuff we're getting can rival anything, like House of Cards and we have bigger actors and directors looking at TV projects nowadays. Maybe you're right and I am looking at things with rose tinted goggles but I can't help but feel like overall there just aren't that many impressive shows year on year like there were 3-8 years ago. Admittedly I am looking at things subjectively and there are probably some good shows I am overlooking because the premise doesn't interest me at all.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
speaking of which, I forgot all about this Netflix show until I read they were ending it after the upcoming season because it was INSANELY expensive, I remember reading about it before it first aired and it sounded pretty good but I never got around to watching it - Bloodline, has pretty good reviews but rarely see anyone mention it online

anyone watched it

True Detective and Fargo together gave us 3 orgasmic seasons out of 4.
Peaky Blinders, if you haven't watched, is must watch. One of the best shows in the last 3 years.
The Night Of was very very good.
Narcos
And finally Westworld has arrived. Starting this weekend. I'm sure it's gonna fulfill out appetites.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
There has never been as much good tv as there is now. What exactly was better 5 years ago?
We've lost BB and GoT.
We got True Detective, Fargo, Mr. Robot, The Night Of, The Leftovers, OJ Show, Stranger Things, Marvel shows on Netflix, Orphan Black, The Americans, Silicon Valley, The Get Down, Atlanta, Peaky Blinder.
There's so much out there tbh. You guys just have to watch it. It's rose-tinted goggles most definitely.
I'm pretty sure it's because all of us started getting really hooked at a time when there was 15 years worth of shows out there and it felt like they came out at the same time. The Wire, Sopranos, BB, Lost etc. was all avaiable at the same time which made us forget that the shows were far apart chronologically.

Think quite a lot of great shows end up being netfllix'd so in the span of a few days-weeks depending on how much time you have an entire year of tv is gone in the blink of an eye.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Disagreeing with an opinion = rose tinted glasses
Maybe I think those shows don't match up to the quality of The Wire, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Mad Men? Breaking Bad and Mad Men started pretty soon after Wire and Sopranos ended. There are a lot of great shows out now but its not reaching the heights it did since Mad Men ended.
Agree on Fargo, its a shame they take one and a half year breaks between seasons. Best year of TV was 13-14 imo, we got BB 5, Mad Men 7, Fargo 1, TF 1 and GOT 4 all in the space of one year Also HIMYM ended at that time too.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
That's the period I was talking about M99.
While I agree that there's more good stuff on TV now, top dogs like Mad Men and BB are yet to be replaced. GoT is the only show that generates a ridiculous amount of discussion/reaction compared to Mad Men and BB.
It doesn't help that Netflix has some of the best shows now and they release a whole season in one day. That makes people binge whole seasons in a few days, making it all forgettable a month later.

AMC needs to come with another got level show. Since BB and MM they haven't really replaced their quality.

This.
The netflix isn't helping that weekly anticipation Firenze was talking about.
Not that I'm anti-Netflix, it's certainly fun that you can binge some series in one go. But I feel they should reconsider their approach and make some of their show episodes come out weekly.
However in the broader term I also agree with Freeza, TV is growing at the moment. Stronger than it has ever been in terms of diversity and concepts.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
I love binging shows but yeah in the long run it's obviously better when a 10-15 episode show lasts months in between Weeks and breaks.
For viewing preferences though, nothing compares to running through a GOAT TV show at your own fast pace.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Finished season 1 of Mad Men. Amazing show.
I was kind of disappointed with the finale though. It was just like a regular episode and not like a finale.
Still trying to figure out where this show is going story wise though. Seems to be just a window into the regular lives of 1960 ad men. Great characters but I'm hoping story goes somewhere. I like the flashbacks into draper's past and his secret.
