Re: The Movie House - Part 8
Yeah I agree about Babadook.
It was very unsettling.
I just don't enjoy the horror genre very much. Story and plot is probably number 1 thing for me in terms of enjoyment. Horror movies are very meh in this regard. And I suppose the main reason people watch horror movies is to get scared, well supernatural stuff, gory stuff, jump scenes literally does zero to scare me and literally 99% of the genre uses these.
I like creepy, unsettling horrors. Babadook was one of them.
Some psychological thrillers do the job of making me uneasy more than horror films.

Re: The Movie House - Part 8
Got to see Midnight Special finally. My first impression was however ah that wasnt that good. But then slowly it started growing on me. Googled up to find out more about it, and more and more I read I am liking it better and better. One thing I can say tho confidently, this guy Jeff Nichols is a frikkin genius.
Not at all surprised at the low rating and negative responses its getting btw. People simply were expecting a different film lol, probably they got deceived cos of the trailer. Very Drive -esque in a way therefore.
I am still in the dark about a lot of things actually. Like I am intrigued by the whole Ranch thing. Its like he(Nichols) omitted the first act of the movie and chose to show only the 2nd act. I think a hell lot of things happened before the movie even began. Its clever. Its also confusing too in a way and thats why I think most people are ending up hating it.
This guy is in my top 5 fav directors right now. Jeff Nichols!! I still cant figure out what rating I should give this film tho as i still havent understood it fully.
Take Shelter, Mud, Shotgun Stories, and now Midnight special. Exceptional body of work and the guy is so criminally young still.

- SPOILER:
- Theres this scene where the Ranch guys get hold of the boy and flees with him, and Shannon and others get in the car to chase them down. We viewers are expecting a fast paced car chase sequence. Instead we get a traffic jam. He is denying viewers of cheap thrills in the process. but still the level of tension is not dropping one bit as we see a tense traffic jam, then some helicopters flying above and in the next shot the van which was taking Alton but now its empty all the while the cameras focused on mostly Kirsten Durnst who put a masterful acting display right there. Thats writing and directing of the highest pedigree for you right there

If you can find my post about it in this thread, I had good things to say about the movie, performances, and Jeff Nichols.
Saw it sometime during the summer. Good movie.

Re: The Movie House - Part 8
I just decided to look up White Ranger on Youtube for the nostalgia *dead*
WATCH THIS TO THE END
Also tbh I watched a lot of Saved By The Bell re-runs during the 90s and 2000s, always liked the main girl in that more than Pink Ranger
Kelly Kapowski :banderas:
she still looks great now ffs

Re: The Movie House - Part 8
Red Ranger gotta be really salty, before White Ranger appeared he was the star. Then every kid only cared about Green/White ranger. Don't even remember the others besides Pink. Think Yellow was an asian girl? Blue was a black guy?

Black was the black guy. Blue was the nerdy one that was bullied so badly for being gay that he quit the show IIRC.

Always liked the blue ranger because blue is my favourite colour
And I disagree with ES. Don't think the majority of 10s youth find Jennifer Lawrence attractive.
Maybe Chloe Grace Moretz

Re: The Movie House - Part 8
Firmly a 90s kid.
I was the red Ranger, my brother was the white ranger and our best friend at the time was the Green ranger for Halloween one year.
I can confirm that was not at all salty.
Also, I was digging the Pink Ranger that came after Kimberly alot more than her. First time I had ever heard an Aussie accent. And it blew my damn mind.

Luc Besson on the upcoming Valerian. I've never read the comic, but from what I've seen from the pictures and read about this, it always seemed like a spiritual successor to The Fifth Element. This interview basically confirms that. Now that he's admitted that, I'm appropriately stoked for this movie.

Only heard great things about the footage from SDCC. Hope it's great. Really want to see some freaky science fiction again
