2016/17 Europa League
2016/17 Europa League Qualification
Some matches are already played right now - the two Swiss teams FC Luzern and Grashoppers are currently leading 1:0 against Sassuolo and Limsassil, respectively.
I'm waiting for Hertha BSC vs Bröndby IF which will kick off in a few minutes:
Hertha BSC: Jarstein - Pekarik, S.Langkamp, Brooks, Plattenhardt - Lustenberger, Skjelbred - Weiser, Darida, Kalou - Ibisevic
Bröndby IF: Rönnow - J. Larsson, Albrechtsen, B.Röcker, Crone - Holst, Nörgaard, Phiri - Hjulsager - Pukki, Wilczek
I just noticed that Teemu Pukki plays for Bröndby. Cool to be able to see him again ^^

So sad the Hibs lost just after penalty kicks against the Brondby (:

Re: 2016/17 Europa League
Yesterday Sassuolo risked to loss against Luzern, but tue Swiss team missed a penalty kick at the end
Getting knocked out from them , if we consider they are easily an EL team in Italy , would be even worse than Sampdoria when they got knocked out from that unpronounceable Serbian team last year

Pukki killed Hertha with a hattrick o_O
Bröndby IF 3:1 Hertha BSC (after Hertha won 1:0 at home last week)

Has anyone seen the Aberdeen OG @90 mins, Worst way to go. Even half of the Aberdeen players turned their back on it while it happened.

Looks like the ball jumped up due to some fault on the pitch. Yuck. The poor keeper there!

FFS Domenico Berardi
Just scored against Red Star, 1-0 minute 28
Thats his 5th goal in EL qualifiers (4th game), talk about carrying his team
He also scored the winning goal in the first Serie A match.

West Ham United 0-1 Astra Giurgiu (1-2 agg.) min 58
I am super excited. I hope Astra gets through so the chance that Man United comes to Romania again will double.

Min 88. West Ham physically dominating. They had a lot of chances. Astra's GK, Silviu Lung Jr. was amazing. Still 0-1.

Re: 2016/17 Europa League
It's done. Astra beats West Ham for the 2nd year in a row. Romania has 2 teams in Europa League. We're coming back slowly to a higher level of football. Hopefully in 5 years we will have again two teams in UCL like we had in 2008.
It's good that we had two teams in the qualifiers for the UCL but both of them were too weak to get through. It's better like this, with EL.
Starting with this season, Romanian teams will have to use at least one Romanian player u21 in the starting XI.
Ianis Hagi, the son of Gheorghe Hagi moved to Fiorentina for 2m Euros this summer. He has a good environment to develop.
Good luck to Steaua and Astra in Europe! Any point will be a bonus from now on.
