France are just so much better than Portugal though so I don't think it will happen.

Would have said the same if Germany won as tonight was the real final tbh.

How I feel as well. Sorry sports. I used to support france, but now I must side with CR7. the salt generated from this when mehssi gave up the same summer would be the stuff of legends and I desire the taste very much so.

Pepe is unlikely to make the final btw... he has a muscle strain. You don't recover from that in 7 days. It usually takes 10-14 days minimum. He may still try it, but he won't be 100% and there's a big chance he aggravates it.

How Portugal got to the final is truly beyond me.

Rooting for France.

Not so much how Portugal got there but how their opponents didn't beat them. Croatia were coming off 3 lovely group stage games and were very much comfortable favourites. What happened against Portugal was absolute dog poo and only coming down to the last 5 minutes of 2nd half extra time where the Croats actually played well (enough) and got sucker punched.

Poland overestimated their defensive capabilities a lot after taking the lead and Portugal got a much earned equaliser. That being said, whenever Poland went on the front foot, they looked quite dangerous and would have probably taken back the lead.

Wales got beaten fair and square which remains Portugal's only universally accepted decent match of the tournament.

Very good point. This is that tournament in which long standing jinxes are finally being broken. Portugal and France have met in tournament football three times. Each time Les Bleus have triumphed but twice they had to take it to extra time and in 2000 Portugal were really unlucky with a hand ball penalty that should probably have not been given.

That's very harsh on France, until they went 2-0 down Germany hardly forced a save for Lloris to make. I personally don't remember any outside of one in the first 10 minutes. Sure they had a lot of the ball but they did pretty much nothing with it until it was too damn late.

France deserved everything they got and definitely beat them and if they win on Sunday they will deserve every bit of it. I didn't watch Germany vs Italy but tbh i wouldn't have been surprised if France beat Italy in that scenario, they have been impressive every time i have watched them and right now they would be the rightful champions in my book.

Got to beat Portugal though obviously.

France hardly played good football in this tournament to make them epitome of football. They were defensive, unimaginative and reactive for most of the tournament. Similar can be said about Portugal too, infact Portugal was poor man's France based on the game plan.
