Re: Dele Alli vs Ross Barkley
Alli and it's not close anymore.
Barkley has taken the usual british media hype to heart and got massive to the point he can't press opposition, control the ball in tight spaces and is only really effective when given space.
Alli on the other hand is a bigger goal threat, more effective in tight spaces and a better passer and more effective at pressing the opposition. It's a shame because Barkley is legitimately talented but Alli has surpassed him for all the reasons stated.

Re: Dele Alli vs Ross Barkley
Alli by some distance.
Barkley has always had problems with the more subtle side to being an AM. Give him space to charge into and shoot, sure, he's great but ask him to unlock a tight defence or be a playmaker generally and he's average.
I'm not convinced Alli has the vision of a top midfielder yet but he's a smarter player than Barkley without being any worse technically.

Re: Dele Alli vs Ross Barkley
Alli has quite decent vision, but his strengths do not lie in long range, pinpoint accurate passes across the field or in creative scooped passes over the defense, or dribbling past one or two players and playing a cute reverse pass to put in a team mate. Rather, his positioning is fantastic, his off the ball movement is very mature and intelligent, and he manages to pop up in the right place at the right time and make the correct pass. That's not to say that he can't make good defense splitting passes, nor that he he's not creative, simply that the more likely assist from him comes from a well timed move between a centerback and outside back and then a pass inside, or popping up on the edge of the box and sliding a nice layoff, or a smart pass like the quick free kick against aston villa.
It's funny, he's a bit tall and lanky but is a very intelligent player--he reminds me a bit of Muller in that sense. He reminds me a bit of Muller if Muller were less of a goalscorer and more of a midfielder.
Barkley has the edge on Alli in a couple areas but Alli is overall the more superior player. Better in tight spaces, very technically good, his movement and positioning is great, he's a decent dribbler of the ball and he's a very effective player.

In awe of him...forbid any bad injuries and some type of large head that will keep him from reaching his potential (highly doubt it given his personality) this kid can become one of the great England players of all time.
His talent is unreal. He just turned 20 and he's been tearing up the EPL left and right.

Barkley has a lot of talent, but he's always lacked the brain to make the most out of it. Alli has that decisiveness about him.

I want to say Alli, but even as a devote Spurs fan I need to see a second season.
I think they are both equally talented players, but I must admit I was most disappointed by Barkley this season.

Choosing between Alli and Barkley is like choosing between a Big Mac or a Quarter Pounder. You might choose one over the other but you know it's gonna be shit either way.
Re: Dele Alli vs Ross Barkley
What?
Dele Alli is one of the best young talents in the game today
Has there been a more talented young player to light up the EPL since prime Owen, prime Rooney, prime Kane, Gerrard?
A second season (and subsequent seasons) are needed but it's clear this boy is something incredibly special, not just by England terms, either.
