Do We Want Navas to Stay Beyond This Season?
Real Madrid Fans, Do You want Navas to Stay?
I guess the title is self-explanatory. However, Id like to attach the following rules to the poll:
1. Poll only for Real Madrid fans. This is not because we don't want to hear the take of the other incredible members of GL on this, but because we only want to see how high do Real Madrid fans on GL rate Navas, and whether or not they would like to keep him beyond this season.
2. When you vote, please scroll down and leave a comment so we can know exactly how many Real Madrid fans voted on this. A vote with no comment won't be taken into consideration.
There are rumors out there linking DDG to us...again. Are we going to pull another Makelélé and sell Navas, who's been without a shadow of doubt, our best player this season, and replace him with a guy who might or might not be an upgrade...just because he's Spanish and Spain's future number 1?
I voted "Yes, I want him to stay". I hope every single regular Real Madrid fan on GL vote on this. The more votes we get, the more accurate the poll's results are.

don't have an opinion either way tbh. de gea is a better gk but keylor puts so much heart it's a pleasure to watch him. gk is not an area i'm interested in atm because both ddg and keylor are very good. there are other areas like attack and midfield where we need some changes

Re: Real Madrid Fans, Do You want Navas to Stay?
De Gea may be the better option for the long-term, but I definitely share the sentiment that Navas is a joy to watch, with his ability, enthusiasm, consistency and humbleness. I see absolutely no reason to replace him. I don't know if anyone else has thought about this, but I think it's quite amazing how well he's performed since the start of the season, considering all of the unnecessary shit he had to go through during the summer transfer window. Not only did Perez handle the planned transfer swap amateuristically, but he also used Navas as a disposable, bargaining tool. I have nothing but respect for Keylor.

Navas to stay. DDG to figure out something else.
We keep talking about not having a sporting director, making signings for positions we don't use, selling key figures, etc
I've already said it in another thread, that all that we've had happen this season and all the issues on the field, none of them has had to do with the goalkeeper. So I don't see why would pursue DDG

It's not even about DDG. Simply put, Navas has done enough to warrant staying.

I think De Gea is Better, but Keylor got it covered there are other positions we need to look into first.

Thanks everyone for voting. Everybody wants him to stay. Now I know I'm not the only one who feels that Navas deserves to stay, and that we should use the De Gea money to strengthen positions that actually need strengthening.
Let's just hope that our board will follow suit and keep him.

first we need to see if we can actually buy players this summer, because if we don't i can't see us winning trophies in the until 2019

Re: Real Madrid Fans, Do You want Navas to Stay?
Is there even a debate in this regard?
Navas has kept saving the players' arses over and over since the bloody beginning of the season. I have already posted my view on the DDG vs Navas in a different thread. There is no keeper who could come in and improve on Navas. Noone. He has simply been faultless this season, and the players love him which just shows what an amazing professional he is

De Gea is a better portero. He has command of his CBs, something that Navas doesn't do. also he makes risky and dangerous saves at times. nAvas is good, but De Gea is an upgrade. yes he has performed well at Madrid, but there is no such thing as loyalty in sports these days. if there is a better option available you go for it. sAme should be said for Ronaldo.

Re: Real Madrid Fans, Do You want Navas to Stay?
Yeah, unless Neuer pulls a Kroos or we discover a Buffon, Oli Kahn or Yashin sort of talent between now and transfer window, I really don't see any reason to ditch Keylor for most current top rated keepers considering he is just as good as any of them.
Still think the only reason Madrid want De Gea is because he just happen to be Spanish.

I'd pick De Gea over him. Better and more future in him imo. Also don't know how long Navas can keep this current level of play up. He seems like he's so reliant on speed, and that's gone in a couple years

No, de gea is not a better goalkeeper. I would've loved to see him here this year, just to see all the goals he would've leaked

I just think that if we're making any moves in the summer, the last thing we should worry about is changing the goalkeepers.
There just isn't any reason to.

Re: Real Madrid Fans, Do You want Navas to Stay?
Very tough question. Im a De Gea Fan but i have not seen another GK make this much one on one saves this season than Keylor.. his shot stopping technique is as good as any GKs out there and is probably the best shot stopper out there.
He hasnt had any aerial howlers either despite being not so dominant there. Keeps the form for like how many months now? 9 ? that is utterly ridiculously impressive.
While De Gea is definitely the more complete and probably slightly better Keeper than Keylor , it will be as massive dick move to shun a player who is performing as good as Keylor has been.
@Freeza
He is 27. He will be on his prime for at least 3 more seasons. That will be great.

Re: Real Madrid Fans, Do You want Navas to Stay?
He's 29. There's a 4 year difference between the two.
Ideally we could also keep Keylor for 2-3 years and get a young talent from 1996 or something to replace him by then.

we have bigger problems than goalkeeper... typical Madrid to change players in a positions where there's no need lol.

Like Iker, he seems to rely on his reflexes a lot. Neither Iker, nor Navas are particularly tall for goalies, so it makes sense. Height is another argument that favors De Gea. I just don't think it's necessary to swap out Navas for De Gea at this time, unless there's something preventing him from being just as available in the future. I definitely don't think Navas is even close to being our weakest link, and I'd prefer for the money to be spent on some of our more prominent weaknesses instead.

Re: Real Madrid Fans, Do You want Navas to Stay?
Even if DDG is the better keeper, how much better is he? Not much. Navas is doing fantastic, no reason to go after DDG when Navas is doing more than enough for our team

Re: Real Madrid Fans, Do You want Navas to Stay?
You guys seem to be missing a few points.
1. We are rebuilding this summer not fine tuning. With the ban coming in and the awful results past 2 years, team is looking to build for 3 to 5 years.
2. DeGea is elite, Navas is good, but he does have some questionable weaknesses. Command or dialogue with his CBs, reflect risky saves at times, lack of control in the air, can't make that killer pass or kick that both Iker and De Gea (or Neuer) could make. I'll give you the difference is not a lot, but at 30 years of age, you have to ask if Navas will be good enough for 3 to 5 years.
