Re: Euro 2016 General Discussion
Fan violence even worse tonight.
England fans were charged by Russian supporter immediately after tonight's game. Police no where to be seen. People were getting attacked without provocation.
Now reports of more group attacks on England supporters. Three days in a row now.
Police have been teargassing large groups of fans who aren't really causing trouble throughout the whole day. Feels like they're focusing their attention on the wrong thing.
All seems to be happening in Marseille. The other city's are a lot calmer.

Forget about the title of the video. Just watch the footage. Insanely overboard from both sides.

Russian fans are actually organising attacks in groups. Disgraceful. And they are hosting the next WC

Alcohol is banned for EURO 2016
So where is the outcry? i remember when Qatar said the same thing, except that there will be certain zones that alcholol would get served, people went berserk
Unreal double standards

tbf the whole alcohol double standards thing doesn't really matter to me considering the human rights violations going on in qatar right now but it's best we don't get into that, and focus solely on euro 2016, as the thread says

People are going to get alcohol in France, lol, it's just the bars who'll suffer a loss of revenue, but if people want alcohol, they'll find it in France.

Re: Euro 2016 General Discussion
A top football official in Moscow has praised the Russian fans involved in violence over the weekend in Marseille, saying they had defended their country’s honour and should be forgiven.
“I don’t see anything wrong with the fans fighting,” Igor Lebedev wrote on Twitter. “Quite the opposite, well done lads, keep it up!”
unrealignorance banter

End of week 1
not the best of starts to the euros but some quality moments in each match. Hopefully 2nd week is better

Re: Euro 2016 General Discussion
2010 was atrocious
Decent round of games, hoping next week is better. Isn'tEngland-Wales banter in week 2?
Not quite up to Copa America standards but that's to be expected since CA is in the US. Atmosphere is incredible

Re: Euro 2016 General Discussion
Copa America feels better since the whole group stage is over tonight. Many more games played.
We've had good games in the Euros so far,
Italy-Belgium
Croatia-Turkey
Germany-Ukraine
Wales-Slovakia
etc

Re: Euro 2016 General Discussion
I thought the first round was decent. There's been just three two-goal wins, so, the teams have been pretty evenly matched. Also, no 0-0's yet. The stage is set pretty nicely for the second round.

I think its been terrific personally.
Not many goals but we're getting to see competitive games.
The last game (Portugal-Iceland) was pretty poor though.

No disrespect to Copa but i'm pretty sure a large majority of the world's population would be watching Euros over Copa right now

I like the Copa but no one gives a f about this watered down version of it. Even the Chile coach said he cares more about the upcoming World Cup qualifiers than this tournament.

I would have followed it but sadly due to the timezone the matches start at really odd times like 5 in morning or so.

Re: Euro 2016 General Discussion
Not sure the 2 tourneys should be compared. The level of team and individual quality is too far apart with the Euros having a huge advantage.
It's inevitable that they will be compared though given how close they are timeslot wise. I will say that FOX has done a much better job of coverage now than they were doing at the beginning. Was watching the Detroit Tigers play and they actually cut in to announce the USA's goal vs. Paraguay. Good stuff.
It will probably get much better in the knockouts.
The Euros have been great so far. As good as advertised. Coverage from ESPN has been excellent too, for once. Belgium-Italy instantly my favorite match so far.

Re: Euro 2016 General Discussion
Belgium-Italy was the best match for sure, other than that its been decent but not great. Quality is clearly lacking, the likes of Russia/Ireland/Sweden don't belong in my local park let alone the Euros. Should get much better in the KO stage when quality is a bit higher.
