Really don't think you want that extra fixture.

Re: Exeter City vs. Liverpool FC
We can handle that, Its just a bad patch we are in. I have no hopes for the upcoming fixtures either ways. Cup matches are the only thing we are good at atm. ( W5 D5 out of 10 )

Any fatigue injuries will only make things worse. Really believe that you can do without that extra game.

Besides, you really shouldn't need an extra game to beat Exit City.

In terms of experience he's a kid, so I hope people don't turn against the kid after one match IF it's a bad game for him. Even the very best have bad matches.
But I think he'll be alright. Too good not to be.

Re: Exeter City vs. Liverpool FC
I personally think he has no future here.
He'll be turning 23 this year. And he couldn't get a single competitive game at Aston *bleep* Villa of all teams this season.
Sure, he could be one of those unique late bloomers but I do not think any modern club would want to waste any more time on a 23 year old who hasn't really shown his worth in top tier football.
He needs to really step up his game if he deserves to stay here.

Re: Exeter City vs. Liverpool FC
Gabriel was 23 when we bought him. Koscielny was 24 iirc. Coquelin's rags to riches story at 24 is well known too.
A bit too early to give up on him conclusively. Maybe Klopp is the bit of magic he was missing.

Re: Exeter City vs. Liverpool FC
Gabriel and Koscielny both had had professional experience before they were signed, having played in over 100+ games. Ilori was signed as a future prospect a while ago and has hardly played in about 30 or so top tier competitive fixtures. For the same reason, we have been loaning him but unfortunately no one wants to play him.
Players with better potential have not lived up to their potential at Liverpool due to injuries and other reasons such as mismanagement. Comparatively, Ilori is a nobody so I'd suppose my pessimism is reasonable.

Re: Exeter City vs. Liverpool FC
We've had so many 'promising young center-backs' over the years with no one coming even close to making it that I'm sceptical about each and every one of them now. It kinda feels like CB is the toughest position for a youngster to break in to, whereas a lot of managers seem happy to give their young strikers some games.
Anyway, if Ilori is back at the club, I hope he gets to show in a couple of games what he can do.

Re: Exeter City vs. Liverpool FC
Ilori is going to be a very special CB in the future. Whether at Liverpool or somewhere else. He has all the attributes needed and on top of that as far as I'm aware he's very mature and focused on football.
You people who have never watched a single game of his just make idiotic judgements based on *bleep* Aston Villa not giving him game time.
Mascherano couldn't get a game at West Ham before we signed him. There are plenty of other examples. Relegation fodder and midtable English clubs are *bleep* dead pit for quality foreign youth.
Injury proneness is a big factor why he hasn't been able to solidify himself for more game time the 3 clubs we've loaned him to. Every season he gets shitty niggles like Agger. Hopefully he outgrows them like Stevie did when he was younger.

Re: Exeter City vs. Liverpool FC
Mascherano is the worst example you could possibly use. His contract with West Ham was riddled with issues. He was a regular for Argentina at the 2006 World Cup.. most of the European heavyweights were interested in him after that.
And the "special" CB bit.. that's how I exactly felt about Kelly and Coates. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be.. Coates especially after that terrible knee injury.

Klopp is really hamstrung by this string of hamstring injuries.

Re: Exeter City vs. Liverpool FC
Exeter are no kids, If we do end up putting 5-6 youngsters who've never played together we could comfortably lose this.
Just hoping all their loan experience counts today.

Firmino rested unless he needs a confidence booster. Ojo on that wing
Brannagan instead of Lucas that's it. Don't see Texeira featuring though.

Re: Exeter City vs. Liverpool FC
I might actually be inclined to prefer Enrique over Stewart for the LCB spot so that the team has a bit of experience in the backline.

Re: Exeter City vs. Liverpool FC
Just saw this, lol.
I really doubt that at least Milner or Allen will not start. If that rumour is close to true though:
Apparently Benteke might be injured as well is what I'm reading.
According to Tony Barrett
Bogdan
Randall
Illori
Enrique
Smith
Stewart
Brannagan
Kent
Teixeira
Ojo
Sinclair

Re: Exeter City vs. Liverpool FC
If that's the line then its an U21 game and we'll probably lose.
Milner and Allen both lack game time, Lucas as well. Lallana arguably as well.
Benteke missed the last game, Should play this for a confidence booster if not injured.
Enrique has to start, Huge game for him.
