Re: OFFICIAL: Petr Cech signs
Ornstein reckons he's signed a four year deal and cost £10mil. I'm guessing he'll be up there with Mert/Ramsey/Ozil/Alexis as one the top earners as well.

About as reliable as The Metro and Caught Offside:
http://www.arsenal.com/media-watch
Pretty sure RG runs that section of the .com
Not sure RG could run his twitter feed without MT managing it for him

Nice picture for him to take on his vacation i'm sure, one he'll tell his grand children about no doubt.

Re: OFFICIAL: Petr Cech signs
Had to lol at Cech having that image as his Twitter banner the moment he posted his open letter to the Chelsea fans.
At risk of opening up this can of worms again, I wonder if us letting Chelsea sign Fabregas had any bearing on this transfer
Anyway, players welcoming Cech to Arsenal:
Theo: Scored my first ever arsenal goal against him - delighted to welcome @petrcech to @arsenal !!! #WelcomeCech (will clearly by Cech's first target in training)
Ramsey: Wow what a signing! One of the best @premierleague keepers ever! Welcome @PetrCech...
Bellerin: #WelcomeCech
Ozil: From blue to red - welcome @PetrCech to the @Arsenal family!

Re: OFFICIAL: Petr Cech signs
I am so happy for you guys.
Always liked Cech. Fantastic keeper. Him, Lampard, Drogba and Essien are the only players I don't begrudge the CL 2012. They deserved it.
Finally he's at a good club

Re: OFFICIAL: Petr Cech signs
Certainly not the final piece of the puzzle, but it's not much of a coincidence we haven't won the league or made serious runs in the CL since the last time we had a legit top class goal keeper like him. We have been seriously missing someone at the back who can command and organize our defense

Re: OFFICIAL: Petr Cech signs
I still cant help but feel a bit sus about all this..
Could be a splinter cell sent by Roman to blunder a last minute winner for Villa in our final match?
4mil "golden handshake" my arse
Tin foil hat off though, what a great signing - I think he will feel he has something to prove.

Re: OFFICIAL: Petr Cech signs
Really good signing.
Is the fee slightly high for a 33-year-old GK? Maybe, but then again, it only seems high because goalkeepers are the last "cheap" position, seems like.
But Cech is proven quality, and he has minimum 3-4 more years at the top level. I believe in Szczesny's long term future still, to an extent ... and I think that Ospina did well too last season. But Cech is an upgrade and I'm glad we got him.

Re: OFFICIAL: Petr Cech signs
Hmm knew we were missing someone in this section
I guess it's 10m because he came from Chelsea and because of his reputation. The pros outweighs the cons immensely in his situation though. Would have even paid 15m

Re: OFFICIAL: Petr Cech signs
Of course the fee is high, but if Cech had wanted to move to PSG, the fee would have been much higher.
10m is fair, imo.

Re: OFFICIAL: Petr Cech signs
Don't get people who say they expect only 3 years of top quality from Cech.
van der Sar had his best years for United at 36-40 iirc. And how old is Buffon now?

To add to this, it might be a slightly biased point, but I stand by it; I rate Cech as a top 3 GK in the world, with only Neuer clearly above him, so if he were 20, he'd be worth 30m+.
If you were only to get 3 good years out of him, you've payed 3.33m per season for one of the best GK's in the world, sounds like a good deal to me.
