One minute, Sterling is one of the top youngsters in the world, then the next he's not really that good and some dude who barley played last year is on the same path as Sterling and will eventually surpass him when he reaches the same age, based on what?
It's homerism, hyperbole and rubbish tbh.
How can Sterling be compared to the likes of Pogba and Gotze and then all of sudden be surpassed by some dude who probably won't be starting next year?
"Sky is the limit", his words. Now he left Liverpool and there is some cap on how good he will become?
That's my original post. Someone's eyes are glued the fck shut.

Since you have nothing of substance to add to the conversation please escort yourself out. You just seem to like to pop in and make yourself look like a tool before disappearing back into the background.
Edititng my post?
If I edited my post, it would say I did and what time I did it.
Now, you're just clutching at straws.
Tell me;
How many games did Ibe play last year?
Will he start this year?
Who will you compare him to next?
Will you continue to rate him if he leaves?

Re: OFFICIAL : Raheem Sterling joins Man City
I know, but I am still making a point because these guys love to come in and throw sweeping generalizations as well as misinformation and then leave. It's still nice to set the record straight.
1) I never flip flopped. Sterling is still an amazing young talent just like I thought a year ago. I question his mental fortitude/attitude a bit more now, but that doesn't take away from his potential if his head is right.
2) I've always thought Ibe had as much, if not more, potential than Sterling. I think he's surrounded by better people though and has better physical tools. In 2 - 3 years I think he'll be better.
3) It's always nice to see the opinions of guys like Izzy and Mole on Sterling vs. Ibe as they have watched them come up through the academy, and are experts on the players and thus would know better as to which has more potential despite the ongoing arguments across Liverpool boards for years.
Cheers mates.

Cheers mates.
Let me address this bit here.
Why would I watch Liverpool academy games? Is that how I should judge whether you are good enough to replace a PROVEN PL winger after BARLEY playing in the PL?
Also, I watched Ibe for during his time on loan at Derby last season because I watch the Championship religiously for about 7 years now. He wasn't anything special there, sure he was scoring, but he wasn't really playing well, Derby fans would tell you that much and the only reason why there were calls for him to be brought back was for the lack of trust in Lambert, Balotelli and etc. But, based on that, he'll surpass Sterling for sure.
Well done sticking your foot in your mouth and making another assumption based on nothing.
Like I said, Gil has been replaced.

So because he struggled a bit at the beginning, at a new team in a new league taking a step up from what he had played previously that means he has no potential? Let's ignore his years of development in the academy, where Sterling also was, and everything else he's done in his career. He struggled for a few games at Derby (and then came back to Liverpool and looked great in every game he played, including MotM performances in multiple games).
But hey, he's only been compared to Sterling almost his entire career here. That should stop now especially since Sterling moved to another team. Sterling is now leagues beyond what Ibe could ever accomplish because otherwise we're just bitter fans making shit up.
Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

There you go again, making no sense.
1) I thought I edited my post? What about that huh? Let's just forget you were wrong there........
2) Where did I say he had no potential? Where? Quote me on that right now. All I said was, he was nothing special at Derby and this is based on what the FANS said, not the LIVERPOOL WEBSITE who are completely objective about their youth players .
3) Who gives a damn about what he did at the academy. You said he will eventually surpass Sterling and all you have to say is "the academy blah blah"? Is that it? No sustained period of top level play? You didn't even watch him at Derby and I'll go out on a limb and say you NEVER watched a full game of his during his time in the academy.
4) Please. Sterling has established himself as one of the top u21 (according to you). Sterling has actually played a full PL season AND played at the highest level of European football and he may not have lit it up, there are clear signs that the top level is not something that is too much for him. Now, at Man City, there will be more expectations and more pressure for him to not just be good, but great for the majority of the time.
That is all Raheem Sterling. What the hell has Ibe done to be compared to that? What do we have to go on to actually have the audacity to say he will eventually surpass Sterling?
NOTHING
Please..... don't bother.

Re: OFFICIAL : Raheem Sterling joins Man City
Yeah, it was an interview with a Derby podcaster, but ok. Not objective, etc.
Where did I say you said he doesn't have potential? What's up with the trollish strawmen on here? You were the dunce using his body of work at Derby as the only measuring stick for whether he could one day be better than Sterling. It's like debating with a 6 year old.
Who cares what someone did most of their career so far as a young player! It's irrelevant since it doesn't fit my agenda of Liverpool fans turning on Sterling now that he's leaving! Let's ignore that Ibe and Sterling have always been compared as they came up, and their potential has always been talked about! Is about all I read there. Also I watch most Liverpool Academy games and comment on them for others, but that doesn't fit your agenda either so.......
This just in, 18/19 year olds must have a sustained period of top level play before they can be compared to 'proven' 19/20 year old players when talking about their potential ceilings (let's ignore that Ibe directly outplayed Sterling multiple times last year despite being younger, and in pre-season before going on loan).
The only real difference is Sterling broke into the side when we were on a run and needed a player like Sterling/Ibe and he benefited massively (obviously, he made that chance for himself with his talent) from having the best player in the PL as well as an on fire Sturridge/Coutinho tandem, and Gerrard still playing well from the back. Ibe came into a completely different situation and opportunity.
Please, continue sir, you are enlightening me on so much.

Just to drive the point home a little further:

That's a topic from 2013...Liverpool fans best in the world, the foresight to see Sterling's heel turn and already start talking about Ibe being potentially better.

I'm glad you're done since you've done a very good job of making your argument with nothing, and trying to pick apart relative statements to avoid dealing with the fact that you are completely ignorant to the situation and completely uninformed about Ibe/Sterling (and apparently lacking the reading and comprehension ability of an 8 year old).
Keep doing what you're doing mate, it's working for you.

Right now Ibe shouldn't even be in the same phrase as Sterling.Sterling is exactly one year older, yet he's played up to 130-150 games (or so ) for Liverpool , he's a starter for England and he has already played a WC. Next year it's very likely that he'll be playing Euro too.
Even if it's true that Ibe may have more '' potential '', for now he's already 2-3 years behind Sterling. That being said it's just my opinion. I've barely seen Ibe play except cameo.

Why the cheers smiley in the background ???
Does the money give you satisfaction ? I'd understand if you were FSG or John Henry, but as fans, the only thing that should matter to us is trophies and on the pitch success, not filling the pockets of already rich filthy capitalist pigs.
On Sterling, I'll be shocked if he scores LESS than 10 league goals this season. He's a good player and surrounded by world class talents like Kun and Silva, he'll be able to express himself.

Re: OFFICIAL : Raheem Sterling joins Man City
why are your posts so aggressive. chill out mate. last season the Liverpool team lacked goals. sterling got 7 goals. so not a great goal scorer. and when it comes to attacking play coutinho is a much better player imo. and we have give up sterling and got milner. ings. benteke and clyne for the money. now sterling might get 10 goals for city this season. but milner. ings. benteke and clyne will give our team more points than sterling alone. and as the guy said. ibe will be at city in 2 years. well if he does then another 49mil wont be to bad will it.Natalie Portman wrote:Unique wrote:for another £49milPerucho21 wrote:Ibe will join city in 2 years ino

Yup just like it did with England when he was given a free role and not stuck out the wing and Sturridge/Suarez.
Also agreed on the money thing, i couldn't care less about how much someone costs especially when you consider every single premier league club is loaded.

the way I see it is this. sterling will as most people say get 10 goals a season. playing for Liverpool that is not enough. we need goals. and I will bet anyone now that if Liverpool sign benteke he will get more goals than sterling this season. so that's better for us for a start. now if you look at sterlings game as a attacking mf player and what he will create. imo coutinho is better. we signed firmino who some people are saying is also a better player than sterling. tbh I don't know much about fermino and as I have said before a player coming into English football is allways a risk. he could flop. but Liverpool giving up sterling and getting clyne. milner. benteke and ings will benefit Liverpool more than sterling would have done.

Depends how those goals impact results tbh, i'd take 10 goals over 18 if those 10 goals win more points.
And it does happen because the year Suarez won player of the year, Sturridge actually directly won more points with his goals but scored less.

Re: OFFICIAL : Raheem Sterling joins Man City
true. but more goals mean more chance of points. goals win games. and wins means points. sterling is great for city. they have great strikers. Liverpool don't. city have players that can score but need players to create. Liverpool have players to create but need players that can score. so it could turn out good for both teams. on paper you would have to think a front 3 of coutinho firmino and benteke will get us more goals then the front 3 from last season.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Depends how those goals impact results tbh, i'd take 10 goals over 18 if those 10 goals win more points.
