What an awful 2nd half. We do not look like Champions elect whether in Europe or in La Liga. Looks like a great week of football is in store. Midweek get pretty much eliminated from the CL and lose la liga to barca at the weekend.

Carvajal did not need to make that challenge. Looks like he's Ramos 2.0 in the making. Just loses his head sometimes. Against Atleti and tonight being prime examples.

Speaking of Ramos. I'll go out on a limb and coin this the worst Sergio Ramos performance ever, in which he did not get sent off.

Varane was pretty disappointing as well today.

Carlo will stick with Ramos I think. But I don't think it's a good idea against Juve. It worked against Atletico because their midfield is terrible and only good for thugging/battling, hence Ramos worked to combat that. Against Juve they will keep the ball and their technical quality is immense in midfield.

I would say start Illarra instead but I don't think anyone likes him at Madrid anymore?

Another option could be to start Isco-Kroos in mid with Bale and James out wide?

terrible, just terrible....no defenders besides carvajal on that counter attack leading to the penalty, that was simply a lack of discipline. defensively, bar some last ditch tackles here and there, everyone was trash. offensively we had no creativity; it was evident when we looked to just pass the ball and avoid contact. james tried, but was average for me, cristiano did well to get the goal and seemed to try and get involved in the creative process. isco - confused; played with no sense of urgency, bale, wow, this guy actually costs 100 million, he looked more like heskey out there. playing him on the right is a waste, he's stifled and has to put the ball on his left to cross, but doesn't seem to have the wit to pull that off effectively in tight spaces; like how carlo doesn't understand these things is beyond me. the away goal is good, but if we play in this manner and juve do show up, which is very possible then forget it

Hopefully Benzema is back and Ramos goes back to defense or hopefully the bench.

Kroos, Isco & James at midfield if Carlo doesn't want to play a DM in midfield.

Varane was quite bad at CB tbh. Think Carlo will go for Ramos-Pepe and Kroos-Isco/Illarra CM in the 2nd leg. Specially since you need a goal.

bale lacks ideas, and that's made worse by playing him on the right. i have accepted that bale has to play, for perez' ego and carlo's job, i have accepted we just have to play with him in-spite of his deficiencies. but what's painfully obvious is he has been terrible down that flank all season, he's not robben that seems to be able to cut in at will, and obviously he can't cross from that wing. this is just ridiculous. how many players must we play out of position these days?

Not sure why Isco was subbed out. Isco and James were the only two really posing a threat and playing well.

I figured the sub would come in for let say Varane or Pepe(Illara or Lucas) then shift Ramos back into CB.

They need to stop playing Varane at LCB... He's not at all comfortable there. I understand that Pepe has no left foot and can't play LCB (which he hasn't since 2009 because it was a horror show when he did). But you might as well put Ramos there if anyone. Marcelo being absent as a defender just puts Varane's discomfort at the position even more into focus. We can get away with it against lesser teams... but not the good teams.

For those who are going to jump on this... it's very common. For example, Thuram could not play LCB for a over year but was godly at RB and RCB without any problem. It's a question of reflexes, instincts and how comfortable you are on the ball with your left foot.

He was just bad tonight, like all most of our players. That mistake against Llorente can't be put down on playing as a LCB( I know he is a better RCB).

Bale really is a useless lil shi1 honestly. Watching highlights and I really lost my temper in my room. Haven't gotten this angry since the 2-6.

As for Varane, he was not good but at the same time, he kept getting exposed by Marcelo all the time. And with us by passing the midfield because Ramos can't dictate anything (this I cannot blame him for, he is not a CM and would never be. Carlo would take fault on that), we really put a strain on our wing play. Which wasn't good either since neither full back was any good and Isco and James can only do so much.

And both of Juve's goals were really so avoidable despite their wonderful performance. Notice I said avoidable, not undeserved. Tevez did extremely well for the penalty and to find that pocket of space to shoot for Morata to tap in.
