Visually stunning. Crisp, shiny and delightful to the eye.
Acting good. Not as great as some have made it out to be in my opinion. Oscar Isaac just about the best of the lot, but the AI girl isn't that far off. Domhnall Gleeson was a bit disappointing, thought the film could've been far better if he was better.
And then the ending... Very generic I must say. I expected more.
So overall it's basically just tension building, human - AI interaction, with a bit of mystery here and there and twists that I could feel coming some way off.
I don't see how Gleeson was disappointing and the ending was generic. Gleeson did great, he pulled of the naive, gullible character perfectly. As for the ending,
- Spoiler:
It would have been generic if the AI saved Gleeson and they lived happily ever after or some BS. But this was no generic movie, the AI never ever gave a shit about him and was feigning feelings so that he would get her out of there and bah gawd that's exactly what he did and she condemned him to death. "Realistically", that would be what an AI would do, I don't see a better ending that the movie could have done with the way the climax was built up and what the themes of the movie were.
- Spoiler:
- Ok fair enough, I get that. But the thing that I didn't particularly like was how obvious it was all along. We know of the stories of how creating an AI would be a negative as it may turn on people, and that was exactly what it was. I guess I just wanted a different ending or a big twist at the end as opposed to AI tricking and escaping = AI wins and gets better of her creators or the humans while the humans are condemned to a cruelish death. That to me feels pretty plain and simple.

Anyway a big fan of the dude. 2 films slated to release with him at the helm, Midnight special and Loving. So cant complain tbf.
The Aquaman script doesn't have a writer yet though, Wan and Nichols were both rumoured to be the director. And I think multiple writers have had to the their take on the character. Nothing set yet. Would love Nichols' take though. Can probably not use Shannon in it though. Watch him fight for a Zod flashback
I see. Thanks for the insight.

The mad max circle jerk is sickening.
I'm in the same boat as Ganso... Enjoyed it, a solid popcorn action flick but nothing special. I like hardy as an actor but he didn't own the MM role, 0 charisma.
The guy with the guitar
Needa buy me one of immortant joe's chastity belt for the future wife

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
Going to break the combo chain of "Mad Max is an overrated popcorn flick"
Just watched it. Holy shit. I'm still catching my breath. With the insane hype from people who watched it I thought I might be disappointed but it completely met any expectation I had. One of the best action films I have ever seen. That flamethrower guitar guy was GOAT This is a movie I know I will want to watch again, in no way was this just a popcorn flick, this was something special. By that logic, every action movie is a popcorn flick All the characters were great, I would not mind seeing Furiosa again in sequels but that's not usually how Mad Max film rolls. Awesome films, the car chases were just George Miller is a GOAT
I don't know whether these are really opinions or something to just stand out in a hipsterish way and elicit "mad" reactions. One post in particular screams the latter.
PS: And RG pls go, 300 was great.

Nah just hipsters. If a movie is getting 95%+ in RT, Metacritic and is getting outstanding reviews by nearly every critic. There are bound to be hipsters

I like Damon despite his character being awful and hitting you over the head through the entire movie.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
300 was great.
I was gonna watch Mad Max in the theater when I was in Rio but it was only shown in 3D so I skipped it. It's too bad. It seems like it would be a great movie to see on the big screen.

I'm not a fan of watching movies in 3D, i personally see it as a gimmick imo. Other than it hurts my eyes, its weird since i wear medical glasses lol
..But i wouldn't miss the chance to see Mad Max if i were you, i'm sure you can find other theaters

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
Yeah, it's definitely gimmicky BS and it gives me headaches so I ignore movies in 3D completely. I already left Rio so it's too late. I live in a smaller city so the theater here is probably some 40 inch 480p screen with the movie being dubbed.

That was like being smashed in the face with a sledgehammer by a feminist. I mean, it was about as subtle as that anyway. Can't wait for Stefan Molyneux to do a review.
