Re: The Movie House - Part 4
It's our duty as film fans tbh. Need films like this to be a success. Else we won't get more r-rated top budget films

It's rated 15 in UK
But yea we need to make sure this film makes a profit. A good profit.

22 Jump Street was rated age 7 in Denmark.
Still US financing the movies though
Edge of Tomorrow was a set-back for big budget non-sequel sci-fi last year. Only just broke even I think.

Don't call me James wrote:Yeah saw Take Shelter for Jessica Chastain. But mah man Michael Shannon stole that film. Should have been nominated for an Oscar.
Freeza wrote:I loved it so much. No idea how Shannon wasn't nominated for that performance.
In what world was Brad Pitt in Moneyball better than him?
Yea. Totally agree.
Cant believe he was overlooked for that performance.

Take Shelter's director Jeff Nichols is credited as one of the screenwriters for the upcoming Aquaman film on IMDb btw. Its rumored to be directed by James Wan according to that. Hope he himself was the director.
Anyway a big fan of the dude. 2 films slated to release with him at the helm, Midnight special and Loving. So cant complain tbf.

The Aquaman script doesn't have a writer yet though, Wan and Nichols were both rumoured to be the director. And I think multiple writers have had to the their take on the character. Nothing set yet. Would love Nichols' take though. Can probably not use Shannon in it though. Watch him fight for a Zod flashback

Ex Machina
Visually stunning. Crisp, shiny and delightful to the eye.
Acting good. Not as great as some have made it out to be in my opinion. Oscar Isaac just about the best of the lot, but the AI girl isn't that far off. Domhnall Gleeson was a bit disappointing, thought the film could've been far better if he was better.
And then the ending... Very generic I must say. I expected more.
So overall it's basically just tension building, human - AI interaction, with a bit of mystery here and there and twists that I could feel coming some way off.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
i liked Mad Max, but it was overrated as hell. i had weird/mixed feelings throughout the film. the action scenes were so good yet so forgettable for some reason... a lot like the other 3 movies. same goes goes for the story, although you cant watch Mad Max expecting a great one
that main villain death was almost as bad as Bane in TDKR
and although I really liked Tom Hardy (he had such a Mel Gibson's Max vibe), it has to be said it didn't even look like he was the main character.
overall nothing but a good popcorn movie. 7.5/10

I said it was very hard to rate because it was an experience of a movie and because of so many flaws but yeah.

Loved all of it. My biggest problem is this though... I can't find a thing wrong with Oscar Isaac in any performance, that guy is a special talent. Alicia Vilander also gonna be great, biggest Scandinavian newcomer at the moment. Alex Garland is A brilliant writer

I don't see how Gleeson was disappointing and the ending was generic. Gleeson did great, he pulled of the naive, gullible character perfectly. As for the ending,
- Spoiler:
- It would have been generic if the AI saved Gleeson and they lived happily ever after or some BS. But this was no generic movie, the AI never ever gave a shit about him and was feigning feelings so that he would get her out of there and bah gawd that's exactly what he did and she condemned him to death. "Realistically", that would be what an AI would do, I don't see a better ending that the movie could have done with the way the climax was built up and what the themes of the movie were.

- Spoiler:
- Ok fair enough, I get that. But the thing that I didn't particularly like was how obvious it was all along. We know of the stories of how creating an AI would be a negative as it may turn on people, and that was exactly what it was. I guess I just wanted a different ending or a big twist at the end as opposed to AI tricking and escaping = AI wins and gets better of her creators or the humans while the humans are condemned to a cruelish death. That to me feels pretty plain and simple.
