Ignore my post in the lobby then.
Yes, sounds awful. But I was under the impression he played in the middle the first few games there. Nevermind though. He is here now and he is making the most of his chances. Let's hope he only continues to improve. Molenation

That Freiburg manager sounds like such a coqblocker.

It's a very good read but I have to say something about his time in Freiburg.

Christian Streich is a bit of a nutcase but a decent manager. His teams always have a very high work rate and are disciplined. As it happens Coquelin thought he would slot in their team without doing anything, he was lazy and had a bad attitude. So he got benched a lot. Freiburg is a small club in Germany and Streich with a very low budget, youngsters and amateurs managed to take them to Europa League. Players like Kruse, Ginter, Caligiuri, Makiadi all went to big clubs in Germany so the next season, they are faced with a relegation battle and Streich didn't really have time for Coquelin's behaviour. After Coquelin left, Freiburg survived relegation.

Coquelin said he has learned a lot in his time in Germany and it really looks he did. Charlton fans seemed to have appreciated him, we appreciate him, he is humble and thankful for his chance to just play.

It's a fascinating story really... he's like Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones, his redemption arc is almost complete.

Le Coq is not Giggs-esque, if you know what I mean.

He does get his face smashed quite often though hmm

(That GoT addiction and character parallel though Proud )

I recall Coquelin talking about their intense training regimen at Freiburg, running through the woods and by the river. Definitely not your London Colney state of the art stuff. Sounds like it built great character.

London Colney has nothing on Schwarzwald.

Nature is a better teacher than any state-of-art.

Christian Streich Knows.

If le Coq wasn't deemed good enough for Freiburg by Streich, that's because he wasn't good enough.

Exactly. Cry me a river.

'Running through the woods near Freiburg' is what people do for their bloody holidays, it's the fairy tale Blackforest ffs.

Aaaaah the ultimate German getaway. Forget Corfu, or Ibiza, or even Agya Napa. Running in the woods is what's in in 2015

The 'forest' is a huge thing in the German psycho-scape. It's basically an militaristic arch-image, connoting the army.
