doesn't matter how many players they try to throw cash at, half of them will flop cause crap tactics and aggressive trash defending.
the amount of space given in the prem any decent technical player would look like zidane, look at bale and suarez in la liga, where is all the amazing technique showed in the prem?
even cr had to cut out a lot of his showboating, ain't nobody got time for that in la liga, defenders are taking that, teams have to be precise or atleti

You really are clueless. The EPL is crap. Monaco have one of the best defencs in Europe. Stick to your epl bubble. The EPL iz da bestest league in da world. The EPL is awful. Getting raped in Europe again, only Chelsea and Everton flying the flag of the GOAT league.
Anyone that watches Ligue 1 knew Monaco were going to smash Arsenal or at least not lose.

Re: CL R16: Arsenal Vs Monaco
I think it's a mental block tbh.
Jokes aside does anyone really think Arsenal are worse than Monaco or PSG or Leverkusen or whatever. I dont believe so but EPL teams think lining up the way they do in EPL will work in Europe. Any good team knows that they have to play differently conservatively to progress
City for example lined up with a 442 with two wingers who cant defend and a cm that is an average winger at best this resulted in City losing the ball the minute they got it and Messi finding alot of space to operate in
Arsenal too lined up as if they were playing QPR at home. Anyone knows Ozil cba to defend so you need a b2b behind him to cover for him when he loses the ball. Stwrting an AM at CM what did they think would happen
Chelsea are the only ones who adjusted the way they played to get the best possible result and surprise surprise so they did. It migut not be beautiful but its efficient and and the way to play in Europe
Spanish teams knows this the best. For example yesterday Villarreal were playing catenaccio after they got their away goal, their coach immediately subbed in a midfielder for a striker, if anyone told me beforehand that they would I would've laughed in their face because Villarreal in LaLiga play total football and are allergic to sitting back and defending a lead
I don't think it's entirely the coach's fault, partly it is because they need to show they have authority and on the other hand most EPL players are spoilt because they get so much money
People who are quick to jump on guys like Pelligrini's heads needn't forget their accomplishment with lesser teams in other countries.

Re: CL R16: Arsenal Vs Monaco
stop talking as if Monaco are better than us, it was a one of game and they won, well done we have lost to teams like Swansea/Southampton in the past.

:facepalm:right..........
So you think monoco have been performing better than us in ligue 1? lmfao...I don't know what to say... if we played 10 times we'd probably beat this Monaco team 7-8 times. they are not that impressive at all, defensively solid yes but stop knee jerking, arsenal had a bad night. I've seen arsenal face teams that were superior to them, and I have no problems saying it when a team is, but monoco are not that, we basically gave them the game through our mistakes ffs.
nothing against Monaco they did well, but stop overrating them.

Re: CL R16: Arsenal Vs Monaco
btw, not many PL fans think the PL is the best in terms of quality anymore, ESPECIALLY in this forum. Go to another forum and do that league vs league shit, everybody on this forum knows the epl is overrated by the English media, we are all sick of it. The mid tier/bottom tier teams in the epl are awful, we all know it so just stfu and stop trying to boost your ego.

Re: CL R16: Arsenal Vs Monaco
I don't think this had anything to do with difference in quality as Arsenal have more experienced and generally more proven players. What made this result to happen IMO is the motivational part, I might be wrong but Monaco simply wanted the game more than Arsenal.

Re: CL R16: Arsenal Vs Monaco
I don't think many appreciate the quality at Monaco ttbh.
Known quantities:
- Moutinho
- Berbatov
- Toulalan
- Carvalho
- Abdennour (for L1 fans)
- Kondogbia (for La Liga fans)
- Stekelenburg
Young starlets:
- Kurzawa (first NT callup last November)
- Martial (only 19 but with U23 NT now)
- Ferreira Carasco
- Bernardo Silva (considered top Portuguese AM prospect and bought for 15,75 mil euros)
- Bakayoko (starter for Guingamp at age 18 last season and bought for 7,04 mil euros
- Wallace (Brazil U23 starter on loan with option to buy)
Young good players:
- Fabinho
- Toure
- Dirard
- Diallo
- Germain
Veteran players
- Raggi
- Subasic
- Echejile
- Alain Traore
When you look at the makeup of the team, it's actually VERY solid. The club just took a massive PR hit with the sales of James and Falcao. But they're investing in kids with Bernardo Silva, Wallace, Bakayoko and Martial to make up the load.

Seriously, the lack of focusing on unpopular/unknown opponents in this forum. But eh, not everyone can be analytic, I suppose.

High defence with Mertesacker, this Mertesacker ( really awful this year).and you can't playing with this midfield in Europe.
Well , we're talking about Wenger. He made basically nothing in Europe even with Thierry Henry in his prime and the Arsenal of Invincibles.
It is not his DNA.
This as well. What amazes me is how a manager as knowledgeable as Wenger hasn't realized this vital point in his scheme. It's almost a given, that if a manager deploys a highline with slow Defenders, you gonna get breached and it showed in that game.
Merte is an excellent defender, that I have no doubt about, but his speed just kills him when possession is lost.

If you play a high line with slow as fk defender you do not deserve to make a living from coaching, it's just disgraceful

Can't believe wenger thought that having Mert half way up the pitch would ever be a remotely good idea, ever.

Re: CL R16: Arsenal Vs Monaco
It wasn't Arsene's fault. That was purely Mertesacker's error to go and try win a ball halfway up when there was no cover behind him.
