Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
Meh it's more like I'm too lazy to change it lmao. When I got facebook like two years ago it was just so I could communicate effectively of my high school soccer team since I was given captaincy. Only added people from the soccer team and it stayed that way until this last summer, when I realized that a social life in college and in general becomes easier when you add people on facebook.
Still, I sported this picture as my profile pic for a long time as a symbol of my lack of f*ck giving towards facebook and even today sport it. Though I now have around 60 or 70 friends (most of which are unfollowed so I don't have to see their stupidity and my wall can be articles from NPR and other sites/newspapers that are informative) I still have this as my profile pic.
Mostly because changing it would require too much effort.

It's the default but some friend gave it a filter for kicks and giggles and I used it.

Never heard of it.
Also only just noticed but BeIn Sports is finally up and running in Australia. Finally going to have a decent picture when watching Serie A once more.

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
Adelaide city is between the sea on the west and the hills on the east. I live in the foothills in the east, but the fire is on the other side of the range, a few kilometres away. I can't see any smoke, but it's incredibly hot today and there are strong winds. I'm pretty sure Kick lives even further away from the hills, so I'm sure he's fine if he's at home. I haven't heard any news of fatalities yet, but some properties have been burnt down.
Great news. Rai is terrible quality so I prefer to stream instead.dostoevsky wrote:Also only just noticed but BeIn Sports is finally up and running in Australia. Finally going to have a decent picture when watching Serie A once more.

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
I'm back in Adelaide Til the end of the month, unless I fail to get Scholarship to Sydney, in which case, I'll be staying in Adelaide.
A lot of my friends are being evacuated as a precaution since they live in the direction it is travelling. I am safe, as I am well in the suburbs. My girlfriend lives in the hills but it is luckily heading away from her.
It's really not good, though, the sky has been rather smokey all day.

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
I'm pretty sure this is only applicable to Forza, but regardless, I've got a question for the lawyers of GL
The other day im pretty sure I got caught doing roughly 2 or 3km/h over the limit in a 60 zone by a mobile speed camera. I haven't got any issue paying the fine etc, but because its currently double demerit points in NSW I'm going to get hit with 8 demerit points too means I'm going to lose my licence for three months as P2 drivers in NSW can't have more than 7 demerit points. (NSW is the only state that had Double Demerit Point periods, but more or less durring that period the demerit point portion of all fines for speeding, seat belt etc is doubled)
I feel that a 3 month licence suspension is pretty harsh for going no more than 3km/h over the limit, and having done my research, the fine seems to be well above the same in another state for going <10km/h, even after double demerit points is applied (I've listed them all bellow). If I were to appeal this at a local court based on the punishment being grossly unfair and well beyond the punishment that would be received in any other state, would I have any leg to stand on?
__________________________________________________________________
These are the equivalent punishments in each state assuming double demerit points ordered by degree of licence lost. Note that NSW is the only state that actually has double demerit point periods, so in practice the all the demerit point totals outside NSW would be halved, meaning that only in NSW would I lose my licence

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
There's a small tolerance with speed cameras, and your speedometer might overreport your speed as well, so you might not actually have a problem (go hand in your licence you criminal ).

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
When I looked down at my spedo I was just over 60km/h and I was accelerating. At that point I was in line with the camera so my speed would have been checked already so I'm really hoping a combination of that, speec cameras being set 1-2km/h above the limit and spedos being designed to show you going faster then you really are all come together to save me.
The wait is killing me, unfortuantely this happened around 4.30pm on Friday so I wont know anything til Monday or Tuesday

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
I wouldn't worry yet, Fitty.
I went past a speed camera in NZ doing 60 in a 50 zone, it's been a month and I haven't heard a thing.
I'd wait for the ticket, you may not get it.
