OM being targeted for purchase

Saudi Arabian prince, Al-Walid, is looking to purchase OM for 100-150 mil euros.  He's the 16th richest person in the world according to Forbes with a personal fortune of 21,7 billion.  He spends all his holidays in France for decades apparently and his son was saved from paralysis in Marseille after a skiing accident.

Made much of his fortune through investments in the US and Europe as well as the Middle East actually... he has a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University in NY.

He wants to compete against PSG in France as he's been a OM fan since the 90s apparently. Friends with previous OM owner Bernard Tapie.

Would be great for French football if he did it the right way imo.

Monaco owner has personal financial issue for now... so that project is on pause for probably 2-3 years. They're going the Porto/Benfica business model route for now.

15 billion is barely enough to put food on the table these days tbf, just ask Berlusconi who's struggling with a measly 9 billion net worth

Wait, that's all you need to buy Marseille?

Colony Capital sold 70% of PSG to QIA for 40 million in 2011.... 100-150 million is a lot of money for a club in France. If there wasn't a new stadium, OM would be worth probably 70-80.

It's really not that surprising. Football clubs are terrible business models and have terrible profit margins, if there are profits at all.
