Has there ever been a more derivative, boring, stale, unoriginal movie than Divergent?

it was shite
all the controversy surrounding the movie was the best thing that could possibly happen, will make more money now and overshadow how crap the movie is.
agreed. extremely average if not poor movie (though it did have some funny parts). Wouldnt be surprised if the leaked emails were staged just to give this pos movie massive media attention.

I am not sure what to say. The film was very good. It was much more straight forward than I thought but it had unbelievable dynamics to it. It was quite enjoyable but I didn't like the ending. It was quite twisted and disturbing, and a bit dull. Didn't feel right because the whole movie had a completely different tone to it which really didn't fit the ending. Thought there would be one final twist but it just ended.
Saying that, I read that the book which is the film based on is 95% the same so I guess they couldn't force their own ending.
- Spoiler:
It was obvious he didn't kill her and she was just writing another story in her head based on Amazing Amy who was one step ahead of her. But I didn't think she would actually come back. That was quite a surprise. Knew she would kill NPH obviously but I was thinking of her either getting caught or her fleeing to Greece.
But that ending. She gets away with so much shit. I have never seen a Fincher movie before so I don't know if this is his style or not. She should be tried for at least 4 different crimes but somehow she got away with every single one of them. Thought it was quite poor writing because there should have been A LOT of evidence in every single case which should have pointed out the truth. But I don't know if they actually wanted to do it this way and it could be that they did. Because the film screamed of manipulation.
It was actually dark comedy in a way because I thought they were doing a parody of domestic abuse done by wives on their husbands lol. Felt so sorry for Affleck and their kid who will be born in this environment lol. But then he was an ass himself. Basically the only person you could really sympathise was NPH. That house was GOAT ffs.
Overall, it was really good and I am glad I watched it. Eventhough the ending didn't feel right.
8.1/10
What I loved most about the movie is what you found a bit stale = the ending and the whole flow of the film.
If you read my review, you would know I also said that at times it felt like a dark comedy, then suddenly a suspense film and then an all out thriller. I loved how the story was unfolded and I think the writing is spot on for this film. I would probably have been pissed if it had a "happy ending" or a more climatic finish because we get that from the average film.

Oh and btw. Source Code forgot how good it was till I saw it again last night.

Been watching couple of Korean movies lately, most recent one is
Breathless (2008) : An indie drama. Didnt realise the leading actor wrote, produced and directed it. One of the saddest and most brutal film I've ever watched. Some scenes were extremely hard to watch. Well worth the 2 hours.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
Someone recommended The Brotherhood of War not so long ago.
Think it was Maravilla
Anyway, just finished watching it.
It's a good story, I love how they centered it around the brothers' relationship and how it deteriorated. Also love that they showed the time before the war started, that was done well and when the war came everything just suddenly burst into action.
But I should also say there were way too many war scenes going on. And the acting was forced and melodramatic at times. They should've toned it down in both those departments and then the emotional edge to the movie would've worked far better.
My rating: 6.3/10

Yes because I'm going to force myself to watch a tragic movie that I have seen a million times about real historical events during a festive period and make myself feel life shit for the next couple of days. Great logic brah
Plus the ones on the list I had never seen before other than Taken.
@Dosto, I have not unfortunately. Never heard of it even. Will put it on my list.

If you like Michael Collins and want to see another movie about the Irish Civil War then The Wind That Shakes the Barley is also amazing. Cilian Murphy's best performance yet in my opinion.
@Lumiere: I really wanted to watch the Double in cinemas but didn't have the time, thanks for reminding me about it.

Real bluray versions are 20GB. The versions you download are ripped version with worse quality than normal, but still appear great quality on a small screen.
