Re: Roberto di Matteo Sack Watch
Actually Schalke told Keller it would be better not to go to the Sky talk in the current situation, but Keller decided on his in to go there anyway.

They did? At least something...
BTW, looks like kicker starts giving RDM the count already, too
They write "Bad surprise for Schalke - nothing improved with Di Matteo" and the title says "Change without effect".

Well, after yesterday's CL debacle, things are looking bleak again.

Re: Roberto di Matteo Sack Watch
Actually they got 6. But then they were already out of the group stage and in the knock-outs. Moreover, in that fateful match, they at least tried to do something, while in the match yesterday, Schalke only rolled over and gave up from the start.Lord Awesome wrote:Meh, Schalke got 5 against as well vs RM.

At least the only get Maribor in the last fixture. Chelsea are just too darn good right now. I feel Sporting will be eliminated. Maybe Mou will lend a hand to his Portugese comrades.

They just have to beat Maribor, and even though we already won our group there is no way we will take it easy on Sporting Lisbon.
There is no shame losing 5-0 to the only unbeaten side in the top 5 league in Europe.

It's not the losing part. It's how they lost. No fight, no energy, no structure, no belief, nothing.

He's just a poor manager, a noob. He defends with 8 Men and 2 Up-front even against very weak BL Teams and just squeezes our lucky wins. Hence it is no surprise he got man-handled by Chelsea.
Every new manager gets a couple of lucky wins here n there when they come in new. The players always respond positively initially for a couple of games to new changes. Besides this Schalke Team is good enough to be 3rd in BL anyways.

Re: Roberto di Matteo Sack Watch
Well, given that RDM was signed to improve that, the way the team looks is totally not convincing and they way they play is actually worse than with Keller.M99 wrote:And I'm sure Keller would have show more "belief"

Re: Roberto di Matteo Sack Watch
Zzzzz. Battering Mainz atm, just a solitary point off 4th.
Funny how he gets crucified for a couple of poor results barely ten games into his tenure while that clown Klopp has BVB rock bottom of the BL.
Schalke have an even worse injury record so thats no excuse.

Re: Roberto di Matteo Sack Watch
Let's be honest, Keller is a pretty bad manager. He did well with the youth team but being a first team coach is something else entirely.
Don't think Di Matteo is any worse, but I think Schalke maybe should have got someone better.

Well, one thing stayed consistent - Schalke inconsistency. The next match in the CL will make or break Schalke's season.

Does that mean you're not ready to change your "never ever!" sub-title for the thread, RWO?

Re: Roberto di Matteo Sack Watch
Nope. We are talking about Schalke. Even if he will survive the first season, 2017 is faaaar away. In the last 10 years, the mean residence time of the guy at the helm was about 240 days.
If you count matches per coach, Schalke is on the 3rd place when it comes to coach wearout. Here you can see how many matches the coaches lasted on average while the club played in the Bundesliga:
1. 1.FC Nürnberg - 31 matches per coach (30 coaches used in 920 matches)
2. Hannover 96 - 31 matches per coach (23 coaches used in 716 matches)
3. Schalke 04 - 38 matches per coach (37 coaches used in 1396 matches)
.
16. Bayern München - 89 matches per coach (17 coaches used in 1506 matches)
17. Werder Bremen - 90 matches per coach (17 coaches used in 1532 matches)
18. SC Freiburg - 173 matches per coach (2 coaches used in 346 matches)
