Roberto di Matteo Sack Watch Empty Roberto di Matteo Sack Watch

Post by rwo power Sat Oct 25, 2014 7:34 pm

I thought right from the beginning that sacking Jens Keller and hiring Roberto di Matteo was one of the biggest idiocies that Schalke committed - and they have had a lot of crazy ideas before... Giving him a 3 year contract was even more stupid, and I'm pretty sure he won't see that out. I guess he'll be lucky to make 3 months if he continues like today. The way he turned Schalke into a PTB Hoofball team is beyond belief. No

Playing crap football and lacking results. It's best Pardew share this space as well.

Also, why did Schalke sign him? Germany has quite a decent amount of competent managers, they thought he would have lucked his way to a UCL final again or something?!

It's more to do with lacking german heritage. Also the fact he replaced a scrub German.

His 2 wins already matches Keller wins this season.

RWO is just salty because RDM is not German, and a German manager was fired. Laughing

Grain of salt.

Nobody is mourning Keller's sacking

I'm guessing this thread is parody or that it's just knee jerk for the obvious reasons.

As if Keller's extremely one dimensional futbol was much better Laughing

Lose to Leverkusen away --> Get dissed in a GL thread.

Talk about cheap shots.

You obviously didn't see the abysmal kind of football Schalke was playing today. No

I certainly did not, but the guy's barely been introduced to the club, give him some time. It's not like Schalke were doing good before he came in...

Well, but then they weren't defending with 2 banks of 4 and the only "passes" forward were the 40+metre kick-offs of the goalkeeper... Schalke had 4 shots on goal and these were actually really weak attempts to shoot, while Leverkusen had 24.

Oh, and RDM actually said in his introductory PK that he stands for "creative attacking football" and that "he wants to work with the young players".  Well, Max Meyer got 1 minute of quality playing time in the 90th or so minute despite KPB being out injured...

I watched the game and RWO is right about the football being utterly abysmal.

To me results will never outweigh a style of football which makes you want to gouge your eyes out. Mainly because results don't last but the style does.

I think you'll very often find new managers - especially ones brought in mid-season - start with the basics and build from the back. Sort out the defense first (especially considering how horrid Schalke's was/is) then start working on the rest once that's settled. He said as much himself in his first press conference.

"The impression I have is one of a good team who have a lot of potential going forwards, but certainly have a few problems in defence."

"They've had a lot of injuries too, but I think we've probably got to work on the defence a bit."

"In my opinion, you need a solid defence. Not just the back four, but the general organisation, and then you can build on that
."
-

If he's still playing like this after 3 months, you'd have every right to feel aggrieved. After 3 games? Well, you just come off looking a bit silly.

‘Didn't cart out enough youth in his 3rd game in charge, therefore he's full of shit’...

This thread is comical even by GL standards.

It really is a terrible thread to conceive especially given the idea if Tuchel or even Toppmöller came in, they wouldn't be anywhere near as prejudiced as Di Matteo is on this forum; i.e the manager responsible for the team who took away Bundesliga glory in the CL final.

But I guess you'd want Keller's kopflose Fußball rather Laughing

I'm sure he'll succeed, if he doesn't, then hopefully it'll surely be down to the board, right? Right. lol

Let's not delude ourselves, RDM getting sacked is a question of when not if lol

He has zero credentials or skills as a coach as far as I can tell. He was basically a spectator during that fairy tail Chelsea run in the CL. Chelsea's locker room leaders (Terry, Drogba, Lampard, Cole etc) were behind the CL win not RDM, he's lucky he didn't have to buy tickets to come see the games.

Actually it was more or less Felix Magath who brought them to the CL semis, but he was sacked in March 2011, just after he won the Last 16 matches of the CL and led Schalke into the final of the DFB-Pokal. (Schalke were not amused that his BL results weren't top notch. BTW, Magath otiginally got a 4 year contract when he took over in May 2009.)

As I mentioned before, the Schalke board is a bit erratic and Schalke's coaching job is a hot seat. Magath was followed by Ralf Rangnick, who resigned 6 months later on his own accord as he suffered from a burnout.
