Re: How big of a pounding are Chelsea going to put on the EPL?
Bump my own thread. I'll look pretty dumb if Chelsea lose to United tomorrow but I really don't see that happening.
This league is going to get ugly quick. Like I said in my original post I'd be surprised if Chelsea don't win the league by 15-20 points.
And the point gap between them and the third place team is going to be massive.
Maybe if City get knocked out of Europe quick they can pull a Liverpool and just concentrate domestically but even then I don't see them being a threat to win or challenge.

Re: How big of a pounding are Chelsea going to put on the EPL?
Bump.
So.........., yea. What a disaster this league is.
Chelsea has the league all closed down by early November.
Chelsea are
8 points up on Man City who are a disaster right now
12 up on Arsenal who look like they have quit on there manager. (Swansea looked really very good today though)
13 up on Man United (The only team who will probably be leaps on bounds better by Xmas)
15 points up on Liverpool who are shocking and have a negative goal differential. Not to mention there manager basically showed he has no clue how to handle a team playing in Europe and domestically.
15 up on Spurs who have a negative goal differential and had a master stroke of selling Sigurdsson. Not to mention the worst/most expensive bench I have ever seen.
15 points up on Everton who are a total shell of themselves.
But the good news is West Ham, Swansea and Southampton all look primed for a run at Chelsea.
What a total disaster. This is shaping up to look like Serie A when Inter were declared champions at Xmas every year when they were on that run.
The bad spending and wasted resources from these clubs are astonishing as none of them are a couple signings away from challenging Chelsea anytime soon.

Re: How big of a pounding are Chelsea going to put on the EPL?
At this point, Chelsea are likely to win the title before Bayern. Which says it all how poor the title challenge is in the PL
At least 2nd-6th spot battle will be interesting, mainly because how bad everyone is and are dropping points for each other to capitalise.

Re: How big of a pounding are Chelsea going to put on the EPL?
This league is so, so poor this season it's unbelievable. Nearly a third of the way in and Chelsea are country miles ahead of just about every realistic rival they had going into the campaign. Another set of dropped points for City (and with Swansea at home, Soton away, Sunderland away [which they somehow manage to lose regardless of form season after season], and Everton at home their next 4 fixtures, that might be just around the corner...) and even I'd have to admit it's going to look very much like things are only going one way as I just can't see Mourinho losing 4 more games than City will for the remainder of the season, especially with the latter's poor form that, if anything, is looking like getting worse rather than better. That Chelsea also already have trips to the Etihad, Old Trafford, Anfield and Goodison behind them adds even more credibility to these suspicions, especially as it's a fixture list none of the other top teams have had even close to in these first 11 matchdays.
Imagine if we'd held on to those leads for those few minutes/seconds longer at the Etihad and Old Trafford respectively ffs

Yea, It's really shocking.
Some GM's and coach's are standing in the firing line right now.
How does Daniel Levy keep his job at Spurs? The money, players and coaches since Harry that has changed hands is astonishing.

I very much doubt it. We were undefeated against the Top 4 last year, and only had 1 loss in 14 matches (Everton away) against any of the Top 8, but it's one of the 'lesser' games I'd be banking on us losing in at some point. Newcastle away, West Brom away, Sunderland away, Villa away - all possible candidates, and all ones we've had trouble in in recent seasons.

Isn't Cesc and Costa enough to make this a possibility.

Re: How big of a pounding are Chelsea going to put on the EPL?
I don't think Chelsea will go undefeated.
And the surprising reason is Mourinho.
Let me clarify that. At home I don't think there losing but in the EPL he seems to give too much respect to away teams. They almost dumb down there game on the road when they could and should be blowing the doors off some of theses just bad teams.
All it takes is a bad penalty call late or a sending off in a close road game for them to get beat.
I mean even so, they could lose and still finish on record points, again.

This problem predates Mourinho, and by some distance I would say. This team has been guilty of playing to the level of the opposition and going into some games as if they were already done, dusted and won for years. If anything, it's something I'd expected Mourinho to fix when he came in, but which he thus far hasn't done.

For me Matic is Chelsea's best player. The most important too. He is a fantastic midfielder. Does everything right and he isn't just a holding mid either, he reminds me of Ballack minus the forward runs.

yep and then seeing their backup for him is Obi Mikel.
And also he (matic) makes Fabregas look so good, doing all the dirty work and saving his arse.

Well technically Ramires is his back-up but why Mourinho went with his buttbuddy Mikel today I haven't the slightest clue.

I'd just like to thank Chelsea for proving what an absolutely incredible feat that Invincible team achieved in 03-04 and just what an amazing team it truly was

Going unbeaten in the league only is quite overrated
To be honest I doubt anyone would still be laughing if they should win the league+cl well I hope that's not going to happen
