I don't know about you Mars, but I am, as yet, undecided on what our new flag should be

Should just be the silver fern, imo.

As merely an honorary citizen, I'm not yet well-versed enough to make a judgement based on the country's history, traditions and symbols

It's the simplest answer, and it's one most people associate with us.

Anything with that unsightly swirly twirly monstrosity ought to be dismissed outright. What is this a flag for, a country or a summer day camp ffs.

You mean the Koru?
That is a maori symbol, so it has quite a lot of meaning behind it.

Then they should have made it more detailed. As it is now it looks like a wave out of a coloring book or something. Makes every flag it's on look amateurish imo.

Re: Kick and Shed's Off Topic Thread - Part IV
That is the way it is portrayed by the Maori's, which is why it lacks detail, but I can see why you think that.
From that list, my favourites are the black or gray ones with the silver ferns on them. Much more recognizable than the Koru.

Problem is, like me, I think most non-New Zealanders around the world would see that and think 'wave'. Whether you personally think the country or its people should care what anyone else compreheds their flag as as long as they themselves know what it symbolises is another matter of course, but I think that's what would indeed end up happening.

I agree, and if you saw a Silver Fern, you know what it is.

And what's with all the different colors? Wtf is this, Vote-On-An-Entire-New-National-Identity Day? Surely there must be a reason behind all the variation.

Re: Kick and Shed's Off Topic Thread - Part IV
Red Blue and White are our current colours, so I think we're keeping them to honour our old flag, black is our sports teams colours and the grey is just a variation of that and I don't know where the light blue and green comes from, perhaps indicating our lush green countryside and light blue oceans?

The final flag should have a rock on it in honour of the country's most illustrious product

Key word being 'caught'...
The biggest miracle is that I've managed to evade one for this long.
