It is a lot of money on a lot of average players, though.

tbf, he could be worth the money in the long term. The issue for Liverpool is that they need him to hit is potential now, not in 3 or 4 seasons time

If he isn't worth the money now, they should have held off and bought someone who is worth the money now.

They are not in the same position as us where we can make larger purchases designed for the future.

With the loss of Suarez, they needed to improve their overall squad and attack, they did it poorly and Markovic didn't help.

FT: City 1-0 United

City found the breakthrough and though United pushed hard late on for an equaliser, it never came. Stupid, brainless sending off too much to overcome, but even despite it, City were far from impressive.

Should keep us on our toes more than an 8 or 9 point lead would have, though - especially heading into our difficult month. #LookingDesperatelyForPositives

Similar to what I said last weekend, if you offered me a 6-point lead, 10 games in, having played City, United, Everton away and Arsenal at home, most of us would have bitten your hand off.

It's not the end of the world, mate.

We'll certainly beat them on the home legs, the important thing is to not lose.

James Milner believes Chelsea's title pressure can work in Manchester City's favour:
Manuel Pellegrini's men closed the gap on the league leaders to six points with a win in the Manchester derby and Milner insists they must remain on their tails
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-city-chelsea-title-pressure-4557057

"We just want to keep doing our job and keep churning out the results to stay as close as we can to Chelsea."

"They’ve started very well but I’m sure they’ll have a dip in form during the season as well, so we have to make sure we’re there ready to take advantage of that if it happens."

Sergio Aguero says Manchester City must build on win over Manchester United to keep pace with leaders Chelsea:
Sergio Aguero has stressed the importance of Manchester City keeping up the winning habit as they pursue Premier League leaders Chelsea
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/9547874/premier-league-sergio-aguero-says-manchester-city-must-build-on-win-over-manchester-united

"It is important to win. Chelsea are doing very well and they keep winning but we have to go on and I'm sure they will drop some points."

"They play at Liverpool next weekend and we will see if they drop points but the important thing is that we have to win games."
