I'd just like to say, at this point, I'm happy to sign who ever, Cavani, Pogba or some unknown CF from Bulgaria. This window has been fantastic and I don't think the club will spoil that now.

I know but we have some pretty good scouts, you never know who will turn up.

I mean, did you hear of Pasalic before we signed him? Or Kalas? Omeruo?

No offence intended at all, I just think we could sign someone we haven't even heard of yet.

None taken at all. That's a possibility. But I very much doubt they'd want to hand such a player the responsibility of being our No.2(we all know Drogba is the No.3 option).

I don't think it'd be for number 2. More likely a young player to spend a season learning off Drogba and Costa.

As bad as it sounds, as long as Torres and Drogba are around, we're not going to have a new No.2.

I think Drogba would make a fine impact sub, tbh.

A U-21 player would no require Torres to leave.

But why would A.) Mourinho bring in a 4th striker if he's unlikely to ever see the much of the pitch with those 3 in front of him, or B.) such a player come knowing beforehand that that would be his situation?

Well, unless we intended on selling Lukaku, we would have anyway.

So I don't see the difference.

As for B, ask Atsu, Pasalic, or the many other players who, when the signed, didn't seem to have much chance of making it to the first team.

Precisely - they were all sent immediately out on loan to improve as players and gain first-team experience. So why wouldn't this U21 striker not want to as well?

Lukaku probably should and would have gone out on loan had AVB not screwed up yet again and thrown him on pointlessly against Norwich to make it impossible.

Plus he was a fan, so it makes his willingness different that it would be with just a normal player with no attachment to the club.

As for MvG, there's a difference in competing for 2 or 3 spots with Ramires, Lampard and Mikel as your only competition, and the one place in the team a striker has to fight for.

Well, Torres could be comparable to Mikel in this senario and Drogba to Lampard.

I certainly don't think it is impossible for a young CF to get game time.
