Alexis on the move let's see where he lands
This is pretty much done, might be announced later today or by week end.
Arsenal for the second year in a row sign a elite player, elite winger, something they need to attack teams from wide positions with sheer speed and dribbling.
good job wenger.

Not sure why they need him with Walcott already at RW. Unless of course either Sanchez/Walcott play LW.

Re: Alexis on the move let's see where he lands
*bleep* sake, this is like BC's Higuain thread isn't it?
But really if it happens, great signing... we needed a skillful dribbler and another goalscorer in our team and with Alexis Sanchez I believe we got that.

Re: Alexis on the move let's see where he lands
Be a shame if a talent like Sanchez is stuck on the LW.
If I were Arsene, I'd change the system to accommodate him centrally, but that'd mean moving Ozil from #10 position which pretty much makes him useless.
Headache for Arsene to weather build the team towards Alexis' strengths or Ozil's

Re: Alexis on the move let's see where he lands
I raised the same concern, he is more of a right sided player. but i assume that he will be moving around a lot. or maybe cutting in on his right is something he is going to learn to do. I am not too worried tho, he can cut through people from any kind of direction.
To get the most out of Ozil, he has to be kept in the middle. For his sake

Re: Alexis on the move let's see where he lands
can't he play in front, as central striker? Not his strongest suit?
Anyway he is better than Walcott, and Walcott is injured a lot, so..

Re: Alexis on the move let's see where he lands
I don't think it'll be a problem, Walcott will still be out in the beginning of the season, that's where Sanchez starts and then it's up to Theo to win his place again.

Re: Alexis on the move let's see where he lands
Sanchez would be best utilised on the wing or playing off the striker imo. He's better than Walcott though so at least they're upgrading.
Still need a DM and a striker after Debuchy's transfer is official.

so who is on the left? podolski? cazorla? meh, you guys should have 3 quality wingers fighting for those wide positions. guys with speed to change a game. Pool way ahead of you in that regard.

Re: Alexis on the move let's see where he lands
He can play CF, #10, LW, RW. With Wenger that won't be a problem IMO, he gives his players all sorts of attacking freedom. Which turns them into tactical frauds whenever they leave Arsenal but that's a different story.

Alexis can play all forward roles good (CF,ST, LW, RW), so great pick up for Arsenal. Plus he works his tail off for you and will always give you 110%. He will give Arsenal allot of good options up front to play with.

Re: Alexis on the move let's see where he lands
I agree but I don't think we will, there's really no "top class" striker available. If someone becomes available late in the transfer window I'm sure Wenger will act.

Re: Alexis on the move let's see where he lands
Eh why is playing on the left a problem?
He always showed his best form for Barca on the left and struggled on the right.
He's predominantly right footed so cutting in and being able to roam like he does for Chile suits him.
Arsenal don't need to really change anything, he'll slot seamlessly alongside Ozil and Walcott behind Giroud.

Re: Alexis on the move let's see where he lands
Arsenal will pay around 38M(£30.2m) euros for Alexis Sanchez (25). He will sign a 4-year contract at the English club worth 6M per year. [sport]
Sanchez costing less than Luke Shaw
Guillem Balague @GuillemBalague · 3h
Convinced Alexis will be an Arsenal player very soon. He wants 2 play 4 Wenger. And the transfer fee won't be huge. Sound business by AFC

Re: Alexis on the move let's see where he lands
To where Sanchez will play. I think he will start at RW till Walcott is back from his injury and is completely fit. After Walcott is back, Arsene will most likely try him at LW. He is good at either positions so it doesn't really matter. Like Futbol said, our attackers don't really have a defined position.
I also think he might be tried upfront not sure though
--------------Giroud-------------
Sanchez------Ozil---------Walcott
---------Ramsey----New DM/Arteta

Re: Alexis on the move let's see where he lands
"Struggled on the right" is harsh from Mole. Earlier o in his Barca career I may agree, but not this last season. However it is very clear that playing on the right limits him (as he has said) and doesn't let him play to his full potential.
Mole is right that some of his best form came on the left wing though. Some of his performances at the tail end of the 2012-2013 on the left had Barca fans prompting he ought to play there more permanently. With Neymar, that couldn't happen, but it certainly showed his ability to play on the left. I would maintain even today that Alexis is a more dangerous player from the left than he is from the right. It's clear that central is probably his best position, but playing on the left and being given a lot of offensive freedom would not be a waste of his ability.
Either way, it's a great pickup for Arsenal.
