So happy for Germany, my favorite national team. And I'm still upset they haven't won anything in so long due to Brazil, so I'm perfectly happy to see Brazil get their butts kicked by 6 goals.

The way Luiz went charging forward only to make a huge hole..... this is why I called him mascherano 2.0 but mash is a fighter and would've never stopped trying.

Anyone know why Alves has been dropped in the last 2 games? Hes such a big part of any team....must be injured?

As for this game, just amazing. Bujt as I watch more football over the years I have come to learn that nothing is impossible, anything can happen, what matters most are the 2 teams on the pitch on the day.

This proves that Brazil without Neymar is missing such a focus. Hulk just too individualistic, its too bad since hes so talented and well physique. Oscar asked to do too much and at least he scored that consolation, would have been too harsh if Brazil ended up with 0 goals. Without Silva so unfamiliar with each other at the back. They have been starting and playing attacking football and pressing at crazy tempo in this WC and has hidden their weaknesses fully exposed by Germany. But I think Germany truly figured out Brazil and well prepared. Dante owned by his teammates is no surprised and looked so poor since they know him all too well.

Looking like Germany finally get what they deserve which is win a WC again.

Do you guys think he's being fair with Marcelo? Basically blames him for the entire defeat... seems excessive to me and calls Luiz blameless for the first 45 minutes which I think is a huge exaggeration, especially if you review what he was doing in some of the goals.

I just watched the game again, and I have to say Marcelo indeed is the main culprit, if there's such a thing.
At 0:1 down the guy is running in front like a right winger and doesn't even bother running back after the ball is lost.
We could get second and third balls on the right side after blocked shots etc. till Marcelo was back again.
Absolutely ridiculous performance.
Then after 0:2 Fernandinho and Luiz lost all composure too. Goals came so fast though.

The amount of space we had overall was crazy, but mainly Müller on the right side as Marcelo SIMPLY WAS NOT THERE, but caught somewhere near our penalty box.

Semi-Final: Brazil v Germany - Page 16 Empty Re: Semi-Final: Brazil v Germany

Post by Hapless_Hans Thu Jul 10, 2014 3:08 am

What I just remembered is that the 0:4 when Kroos pressed Fernandinho high, stole the ball and passed to Khedira for the finish (Kroos after getting it back) very much resembles Robbens 3:0 away at Manchester City.
There too Kroos stole the ball in a very similar position from Fernandinho and immediately passed it on.

Fernandinho should really have known better...

This may sound funny, but all in all Dante, as Thiago Silva's replacement, didn't do much wrong. Neither did Gustavo.

Fernandinho and Bernard were not up to it, Marcelo's positional game was criminal and he should maybe not play NT team again. He should retire hmm
Luiz thought since he is captain he should try a Kompany impersonation, run around wildly trying to give the impression of whipping up his team or something. He was responsible the team didn't manage to find any footing after the 0:2.

To think the fans booed Fred No

Maicon too was rushing forward very much, but he wasn't caught as much as Marcelo.

Muller has always been clever and every German player took up perfect positions and Brazil was all over the place and didnt cover and close down the spaces, every Germany player so so much time on the ball, spaces and routes for any passes they want, at least in that opening 30 mins. Individually they had problems, but Germany out thought them, Scolari seems the main person to blame again if thats fair, since he set out his team too attacking and just couldnt compete with Germany's midfield and pressing, left the back too exposed.

Any I still dont totally think dropping Alves completely was the way... MAicon is a beast when he is in form...but Alves is such a big impact for the team also.... just another thing Scolari didnt get completely right which he needed to...

Marcelo is the worst "fullback" you'll ever see at this level. A total clown. I'm watching futbol since pre Di Stefano era when River's La Máquina was dominating and I've never seen such a liability before. If you are playing against teams which you are expected to beat and which sit back his offensive contribution might come in handy. But against proper opponents?
