Apparently it's damage to the Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL).

This says it takes about 2-6 weeks to heal naturally. He's a professional athlete so I'd imagine with the care he'll have it'll be sooner rather than later.

Thankfully we've got Marko, Phil, and Raheem behind Sturridge to compensate for this. Our depth already getting tasted.

Last season was apparently the first season he was never injured according to Soton fans. He's been injury prone in the past.  pale

A bummer, but these things happen.

I was, anyway, in the opinion we should start the first few games mostly with players from last season.

Lallana has his support off of his leg at Melwood today.

Pablo ‏@Liverpool_FOUR 6 hrs
Apparently, with a bit of luck, Lallana may even be back in time for the start of the season.

Don't really need him for Soton, but should be fit for City away.

I guess in few games, I realised why except having lot of abilities, he is not a top class Player. I think his passing is not consistent throughout the game, he is not a consistently good passer, sometimes he just tries to do things with his own abilities instead of showing some Vision and try to find his teammates. If he learns to make a good pass now and then, ánd also use his abilities, he will be another Player imo

He's been meh, but he's got ability. Not world-class, obviously, and we overpaid for him quite badly, but I'm hopeful he's the kind of player who starts to look better as we as a team start to look better.

I'd like to play him in our midfield trio, at least in the place of Allen or maybe in place of Henderson, too, could even try benching Gerrard and moving Hendo in his place. Because Lallana is better at bringing the ball up from midfield than Allen or Henderson.

So how do you guys rate him! Or is it still too early to pass the judgement! He has played 1114 minutes spread over 17 games and I don't think he never looked bad or average. In fact I always have a good feeling whenever he has the ball or makes a run.

he is a very good Player and he will surely make even more contribution in the 2nd part of the season !!! That flick in ydays match to Sterling was class and Shows he is very intelligent Player, he can Play in tight spaces and doesnt try to force things like other Players do sometimes. He Needs to Play more regulary, but because of injuries he hasnt got a proper run of games imo.

He's not bad, but I'm still on the fence whether he was/is the type of player we needed. And we still overpaid for him. I'd put Lallana and Eriksen at the moment in the same quality bracket, but Eriksen is younger and has probably more potential and one year ago was available for half of what Lallana cost.

When we have Sturridge fit, I think Lallana is the likeliest to drop to the bench from the current XI. so, I'm not sure he was what we needed as our most expensive signing of the summer. But he's doing all right, so let's see how his second half of the season goes.

Still pissed that we paid 25m for him but he's a decent player who definitely has a place in our squad.

When it's all said and done he's not gonna be a starter for me in my realistically ideal LFC team. Just a rotation player. But he's decent.

I am with nish here! He's about the only player who looks hungry for the ball, covers ground and chases and harasses, he works his socks off, whenever BR plays him, doesnt matter in what game, he gives his 100%. His technical ability is also good although not great. With whatever limitations he has, he contributes almost every time... I feel that there are under performing players right now and he deserves to start ahead of many of our CMs.
