good riddance to whatever it is.

Nope, tiki taka was scoring 4 goals in one half against Bayern in 08, the 2-6 and 5-0 against Real Madrid, the 2-2 and 4-1 against Arsenal, the 2-0 against Inter and the 3-1 against Man Utd. I from what I remember, 90% of the people back then were entertained..

Brazil won the WC in 1962, got eliminated in group stages in 1966, but won the WC in 1970. France won in 1998, got eliminated in 2002 group stages and got to the final in 2006. Italy won in 2006 got eliminated in 2010 group stages, 2014 ????. Well wait to see how Italy respond and then Spain in 2018.

death of possession football?! LOL!  rofl

Del Bosque's Spain may be dead, but that's because Del Bosque has pulled a Lippi ...

TBH, I agree with anyone who says that Spain's possession football was boring ... why? because an overwhelming dominance of **one goal** winning margins in 2008 and 2010 crafted their legacy ...

but their style has NOTHING to do with the Michels/Cruyff vision of possession based Totaal Voetbal ... and anyone confusing/generalizing possession as a unified philosophy is misguided ...

Also, Chile's first goal was tiki taka. Alot of people seems to forget that Barca in 08-09 also scored from counter-attacks, as did Spain in 08..

Don't agree with 2008, they played quite entertaining football in the Euro's. But everything else, I agree 100%..

Spain's style of play is not dead, it has influenced and changed the game of some big national teams.

tiki-taka isn't dead..... what we saw in this tournament and recently was a poor implementation of their style.

This way never has worked and never will work.... Spain and Barca at their best moved the ball at speed in the final third and that is what made them so dangerous.

They were able to go from 1mph to 100 in a flash because of how quick they moved the ball.... as the old saying goes the ball moves faster than any man.

That was "tiki taka" although before Jibers gets unbanned and rages tiki taka is just a buzzword.

What we saw from Spain in this tournament wasn't their style or "tiki taka" it was uninspired, tired, slow, pedestrian, predictable crap.

Its not even close to being the same thing.....Oh and if it were dead how do you explain Italy and Germany's wins? they were no more direct than Spain at its best and dominated possession with short passes just as much.

How is everyone ignoring the fact that Spain were kicked out by a Chile side whose coach is often described as "the heir of Bielsa"? Surely while that is not possession football that is still a brand of football that has many of the same principles?

Never heard someone saying they got bored by watching Bielsa tactics.Maybe i should change the title to death of "spanish tiki-taka".I don't even think that Bielsa played tiki-taka, his tactics were just part of what the spanish tiki-taka really was.

The real tiki taka, a.k.a Spain 08 and Barca 08-12, was what Bielsa wanted from his teams.
