with gratitude to God for a life well spent, we regret to announce the untimely death of our dearly beloved friend, colleague, opponent and nemesis prof tiki taka, he fell into a coma in the late hours of July 2013 on he's trip from Brazil but recovered shortly afterwards, his condition never remained the same from then on, only for us to hear the news that he later passed on to glory in the late hours of June 18 2014 after a fatal accident in the hands of a certain truck reported to be Chile.. he survived by father, Mr guardiola. Children, sir xavi, iniesta, missi, pick u, biscuit, alves. great grand children thiago, bojan, robben, Phillip lahm, Toni kroos, mandzukic. from 2008 - 2014. Burial arrangement. details to follow shortly. may his soup rest in perfect peace Amen! **sobbing*

They haven't been playing Tiki-Taka since 2012. I don't what Barcelona/Spain have been playing from 2012-2014 tbh, but I can assure you it wasn't Tiki-Taka.

It's pretty clear that tiki-taka needs at least one athletic midfielder and to play with actual forwards. If Vicente del Lippi wants to play with 5 midfielders he should make sure at least some of them can shoot.

shhh, don't ruin their party with facts..

Heck, what Italy did against England was more tiki-taka than what spain has been these past couple of years..

Worth pointing out that not only Spain concede a helluva lot more than in their previous xxx WC games, they also only scored a penalty that shouldn't have been a penalty.

But the "RIP Spain" thread would have done, imo smoking

Honestly, what is it with people?  Laughing
Tiki-taka was what Barca did in 2008 til 2012 or what Spain did in 2008, not what Barca has been doing this season(even the fans booed the team) or what Spain has been doing since Del bosque..

Tiki-taka is not a "philosophy" though. It's a word that was used first in Euro 2008 (even before Pep) for Spain's quick passing: "tick-tock-tick-tock-tick-tock". People associate all sort of stupid things with it now. Could have just as well used "tiki-taka" for Dortmund's play under Klopp if they impressed the world first and not Barca's midfield. Their quick combinations also fit the term "tiki-taka".

Exactly!

The one who popularized the term was Andrés Montes, and he used it to describe beautiful plays, which Spain has not been doing for a while now, nor Barcelona, who has tried to become more direct since Guardiola left..

Nope, tiki taka was scoring 4 goals in one half against Bayern in 08, the 2-6 and 5-0 against Real Madrid, the 2-2 and 4-1 against Arsenal, the 2-0 against Inter and the 3-1 against Man Utd. I from what I remember, 90% of the people back then were entertained..
