After we get Strootman, hopefully we can see Herrera playing behind the strikers. Mata's work rate has always been poor since the opening game. We need someone with more passion supporting the strikers.

That would be an excellent midfield

i actually think we'll get Strootman in Jan window. So this midfield will get even better

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
Rojo, DiMaria, Herrera, Blind and Rafael were the best players on the pitch by far. Rooney and Mata not too far behind. DDG, RVP, the CBs along with the sub's were really poor. Evans is so uncomfortable on the ball goddess me it's like he has been asked to switch from goalie to CB the way he handles the ball, he should be happy he had Rafael next to him and not Valencia to start the game.
It's going to be very disappointing if Mata is benched for Falcao and not RVP

DDG was "really poor"?
don't know what the hell he could do wrong having a clean sheet and making what one save?
he had one blunder with Rojo who he has never played with before that ultimately Evans bailed out anyways.
"Really Poor" is definitely not a word I would use to describe him on the pitch today tho...not busy is more like it
classic GL make one noticeable mistake, and you are crap lol

Ddg had nothing to do bar one save (which was excellent mind you) and nearly gifted qpr an equiliser running out like some neuer when rojo had the ball covered. Out of the little that he did do (ball distribution, decision making and such since he had nothing to do apart from that) he was poor imo, "really" is probably stretching it a little I will admit

blind was really solid today. Di maria is amazing as usual. I feel like RVP has been struggling as of lately with injuries and form. He should be benched for falcao the next game. Another thing that really got me is that: Evans, and smalling are not good enough. We need a reliable CB to orchestrate the defense

one of these plebs pundits after the game on my tv called Herrera a "average" player lmfao I almost fell off my chair
probably thinks cleverley will still come good too loool
also more funny because Herrera was probably the 2nd best player on the pitch after AnGOAT Di Maria

Didn't Herrera cover the most ground? That's amazing for an "average" player lol

it's clear to see Herrera is a great player who is miles better than anything Utd had in midfield in recent years.
Great signing.

Wilson, Pereira and Lingard make it, but no Reece James.

It's when you see that team photo that it hits home the amount of changes we've made to the squad in such a short period of time.
Still not done yet. Fellaini, Ando, Young, Fletcher and Valencia all need to go.
But progress is being made. And I like how the youngsters are being eased in seemlessly.

Any chance of Falcao starting against Leicester?

I'd like to think he will, RVP has looked off the pace. Falcao looked ready v QPR. I think he can handle about 70 mins against Leicester, then get subbed for RVP.

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
I think you should wait for tomorrow's presser, if anyone's injured he'll definitely start.
Imo, and I realise I'm in the minority, RvP had a decent game vs QPR, just missed a goal. Anyway the key is he's improving and since he has had no pre-season this is all LvG will want from him at this point. Plus, I think it was in Falcao's unveiling, LvG went out of his way to say how fit RvP is. So, I think Falcao doesn't start yet.

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
In terms of improvement, RVP looked better than he did v Burnley. Just not at the high standard yet.
I think Falcao deserves a start this Sunday, to see what he can do and to ease him into the PL. 70 mins would be good for him.
I guess not having any midweek games will be a pain for RVP/Falcao in that aspect. Just not enough games for them to get a lot of minutes this season.

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
If it was me, I'd start Falcao, because long-term we all know it's going to happen anyway, but that's for the formation thread.
I think it might be telling that, van Gaal took off Mata for Falcao to test how RvP, Rooney and Falcao might work together.
Louis van Gaal has said this previously “Rooney tells me he can also play at No 11 and No 7, but I prefer him at 9 or 10."
He definitely sees Rooney as a viable option there.

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
Rooney is a frigging wrench in this side.
The fact we have to debate on who starts between RVP and Falcao due to the fact we pretty much know that Rooney is undroppable is frustrating tbh.
I'm not a fan of Rooney as a number 10 at all. I prefer Mata there as he is better playing that role. I got peeved off when LVg subbed off Mata for Falcao on Sunday.

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
It is a tough one, because Mata played better vs QPR than he did in previous matches, so it looks he could hit some form. I do think Mata needs to take more creative responsibility though, because it's pretty obvious if Di Maria gets injured we have no outlet. If Mata does that, then it's a no brainier, van Gaal should not pick Rooney ahead of him as a #10.
Like you, I'd rather have an in-form Mata as the #10.
Likewise, for the CF position. RvP should start if he's playing better and vice versa if Rooney is playing better. That's something Wenger has done right, he didn't let Vermaelen's status as club captain protect him from the bench.

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
That's true, it all depends on the balance anyway. Rooney is our most well rounded forward, even though I think RvP is the better player. I guess we will only find out how it is once they both play with Falcao.
This is so great, this time last season we were arguing about how shit Fellaini is. Now we're trying to decide how to fit Mata, Rooney, RvP and Falcao all in
