It is actually a miracle that with that defense Liverpool actually gave a serious title challenge. Liverpool had a remarkable season, who thought they would be challenging PL title ? .

They are on a rise, Rodgers are taking them in the right direction , Couple of defenders and one midfielder and they will be title challengers for years to come and will eventually win one in within next 4 years. They have found winning mentality and Liverpool this season should be an example to the likes of Arsenal.

I still do not understand the EPL pundit/journalist need to advertise everything about the league. For instance tonight in the 3-3 to which is now being spoken as the best match, a testament to 'the best league in the world' yet it was not even a great match. Lazio-Verona to which ended 3-3 via 2 comebacks was not even praised and why? Because it was a game of atrocious defence, just like Liverpool taking our foot off the pedestal 2nd half via 3 goals up.

Just like the incessant need to say:"Most competitive league in the world" and then "League with the best relegation battle in the world" or "League with the most balanced lower-mid-table clubs in the world".

With LFC its either go big or go home. Like any other club historically a heavyweight in Europe.

Not really.

Title was still City's hands, they have to not drop points. Now they can afford to drop 2, it's not exactly a huge diffeence.

It was basically a defensive meltdown.

We and Valencia played a great game the other day, in basically the same position, with a last minute goal and all that jazz. No one losing their shit over it.

The people saying this is unique to the PL are complete and utter morons.

Didn't watch Madrid vs Valencia, heard it was a great game - Certainly, the last minute equalizer and title implications are there in both situations. But I definitely would not call a team that nearly everyone picked for relegation earlier this season coming back from 0-3 against the team top of the table "the same position" as Madrid and Valencia trading goals back and forth with Madrid tying it up late. Granted I understand that Valencia hasn't had a great season, but that seems a bit of a stretch to me. This is not to diminish the spectacle of that game, which as I said most respectable sources have praised the quality of, but they certainly aren't the same in my opinion

Hasn't really changed the landscape though, right? Liverpool went from being 2nd favorites to 2nd favorites... City were always the front runners because of GD.

Liverpool WERE/STILL ARE in a title race. Us being "second favourites" doesn't differ that.

A team with no expectations going into the season went on an 11 game winning streak to catch up to Manchester City, Chelsea and surpassing Arsenal on the way, lost to a team that has been dominant using their bus against top teams this year and then drew the following game in a situation where they pretty much need City to drop points anyway.

If anything Arsenal and Chelsea bottled worse, and if City hadn't won the title they'd have been an even bigger bottle job.

So those games in hand are completely irrelevant? City had THREE games in hand, THREE. That's a potential nine points so yes, the games in hand are very relevant. This has been a choke job but not the biggest in PL history.
