Re: 2013/14 Calcio: The Final Chapter
I guess Juventus, Roma & Fiorentina will be in group stages while Napoli will be in CL Play-off stage. Do Inter or Parma have to play any qualifications or would they be in group stage of EL!!!

That's incorrect.iftikhar wrote:I guess Juventus, Roma & Fiorentina will be in group stages while Napoli will be in CL Play-off stage. Do Inter or Parma have to play any qualifications or would they be in group stage of EL!!!
Juve CL
Roma CL
Napoli CL playoffs
Fiorentina EL
Inter EL
Parma EL (I think they go straight to the GS, but I could be wrong)

I think he counted both competitions together. So it's true, Fiorentina, Juve and Roma go straight into the group stages of their respective tournament wheras Napoli, Parma and Inter have to qualify to get in

Parma is the Italian club with greatest tradition in Europe after the 3 Bigs.
So welcome back in Europe, it ' s your dimension.
Not so surprised to see the season played by Cassano because all know him , more surprised to see the GOAT season of Cesena legend Marco Parolo, 8 goals this year. He is an inconsistent player , in the sense that he is capable to play a great year as this year and then dropping the year after ... I remind there were even Chelsea'rumours in his first season to Cesena. anyway one of Serie A best midfielders this year..
I think it was a deserved qualification , Fiorentina and Torino are friends (for common hatred against Juventus) and I've the feeling they tried to lose in every way , that penalty to 93 ' but Torino, ridiculously bottler team, wasn't able to win anyway . I would have liked to see Torino again in Europe, but probably this was the most right thing.

Congrats Twoism. Parma have had an excellent season so this is well deserved.
As for Roma, yeah we didn't have much to play for here. Not surprised at all by the loss.
Was good to see Jedvaj and Ricci get some time though.

Re: 2013/14 Calcio: The Final Chapter
Javier Zanetti's open letter:
"Dear Inter fans and sports fans around the world: thank you!
Thank you for having supported my family and me with your warm and loving embrace and your friendship and respect in my final matches on the pitch. It’s a beautiful lesson as regards both sport and emotion!
Thank you!
In my life as a footballer I put in a lot of effort when it came to training, the pitch, my relationship with the fans, in the gym after injuries and with my PUPI Foundation. During all this time I always believed that football was not only the greatest sport and the job that brings the most happiness, but that it is also functions as a school that teaches values and feelings, whether it be a game between a few friends or a match being broadcast around the world.
This is what my father taught me when I worked with him as a bricklayer. And it’s what you have taught me with your love and support!
Dear Inter fans, you will always remain in my heart, with our colours, our flags and our style. I hope to serve the club as a director as I did on the pitch wearing the number 4: a captain both on and off the pitch. In our trophy-winning days and our forgettable periods, we always stuck together as Interisti, and that is how we shall remain.
Dear Argentina fans, I had the honour of wearing the Albiceleste shirt as a captain. With you I await another victory and I will always be a fan. Just as it was when I was a child, jumping up and down on my mother’s sofa with each goal.
Dear team-mates who saluted me with your embraces – the same embraces we shared so many times on the pitch after a beautiful victory – and dear fans of the opposing teams. It is sporting rivalry that makes winning so great, and renders losing acceptable. Facing off on the pitch makes sport a model for life. It is where individuals do not count, but rather the team, and where goals scored and let in always provide a lesson.
So I say thanks. This captain salutes you, but he’s not hanging up his boots: the never-ending game has only just begun!"

It is being reported that Parma have still not secured the UEFA license required for them to play in next season’s Europa League.
The Gialloblu have secured a sixth place Serie A finish and continental qualification but their participation in the tournament is now in doubt.
The news comes after Roberto Donadoni’s side were not mentioned on a list released by the FIGC to announce which Italian teams have been granted a license to play in Europe for 2014/15.
Should Parma miss out, the team to benefit would be Torino, who finished seventh but have been named on the list.
The Granata thought they had lost their chance after Alessio Cerci saw an injury time penalty saved that would have seen them beat Fiorentina and with it, secure sixth for themselves. As it is, they may now get an unexpected lifeline.
FIGC list of Italian teams to have secured a Euro license by UEFA: Atalanta, Fiorentina, Inter, Juventus, Lazio, Milan, Napoli, Roma, Sampdoria, Torino, Udinese, Verona.

Re: 2013/14 Calcio: The Final Chapter
It should be a matter of fees not paid . Surely I don't think it is because of Tardini , Tardini is not the Castellani of Empoli (I remind when Empoli hadn't the Uefa license for it).

Re: 2013/14 Calcio: The Final Chapter
Thanks for all the grats guys, appreciate it. Also like Robe said it's matter of fee not yet being paid, hopefully the club will sort it out soon. Tardini is in pretty bad shape but it hosted plenty of European games not too long ago so I think it will be fine.

Parma is the representation of Emilio Romagna so naturally they should be at this position if not higher and nothing makes me happier to see a club with such illustrious history making headlines. Donadoni has a 10/10 from me and has been Serie A's best manager this year alongside Montella and Rudi. Cassano was just stellar. Congratulations, Twoism.
As for Conte; he never was leaving.
Devi:"I dream at night that Beppe can make a swoop for Cerci and Pandev while extending Padoin's contract".

Actually Pandev is old news and old football player even thou he has amazing vision and ball control, I would love Marotta to sign David Babunski the Barcelona wonderkid who is amazing and so far for the senior national team does wonders along with the Cagliari's new man and already Macedonian's NT leader Agim Ibraimi.
Cerci and Padoin? Bring back Amauri and sign Diamanti

Re: 2013/14 Calcio: The Final Chapter
Final verdict today, very nervous about the whole thing. if Parma fails the appeal over 250k fine in our centenary year no less, I would be devastated. This and the last minute Torino penalty gave me bad tatste over the whole Europe issue.
Also huge news today, Co-ownership rule will be abolished from this season which is really bad for Italian football overall. Italian clubs, especially mid-low tier clubs live on co-ownership. It's already hard to to find young talents, now even worse.

As a Torino sympathizer I would be happy to see them there, but I think it's bullshit that FFP gets applied to small teams like Parma but not to the Cities, PSGs and Chelseas of the world.
