Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Iturbe had a nice little dribbling raid from midfield leading to a goal in Veronas last game. U gotta love these type of players even tho most of them end up flopping when leaving for a big team.

Colombian striker Jackson Martinez has reportedly agreed to join the Giallorossi this summer, fichajes.com wrote this afternoon.
No transfer fee has been set as the conversations between the capital club and Porto have not taken place yet. Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini must now convince the Portuguese side to sell their powerful striker.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Nicolas Anelka will not be joining Atletico Mineiro after the Brasileiro club pulled out of a move for the striker.
The 35-year-old was sacked by West Brom in March for gross misconduct following the controversy surrounding his 'quenelle' celebration after he scored against West Ham in December.
The former France international has since been on the look out for a new club and seemed set to move to Brazil following talks between the club and his agent.
However, despite his representatives signing a pre-contract with Mineiro on April 4, Anelka's decision to delay meeting the Belo Horizonte side for further talks has come at a cost.
Galo director of football Eduardo Maluf explained: "They told us he was to come the following week and stay in Belo Horizonte, visiting our training grounds and looking for houses.
"We said that yesterday was the deadline for an agreement or explanation, as we would like to have him on board for our Libertadores bid. Today, however, we received an email from Mr Casini, saying that Anelka, a muslim, was in Kuwait for an event and would only come on the 19th.
"He had the obligation of informing us about this, but we only heard about it know. I talked to our president [Alexandre Kalil, the same man who announced the deal on Twitter], and we agreed that Atletico's greatness is much bigger than a single player and, therefore we are cancelling our commitment."

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Toni Kroos' agent Volker Struth has insisted that the Bayern Munich midfielder has not received a big-money offer from Manchester United.
The Premier League champions are keen admirers of the Germany international and are hopeful of luring him away from his current club this summer, with initial talks over a possible deal having begun in Munich during the Champions League clash.
A recent report suggested that United have offered Kroos an annual salary of €16 million, but Struth has made it clear there has not been an official offer and has ruled out a summer exit.
"There has not been any official contract offer [from Manchester United]," Kroos' representative told Bild.
"And there is absolutely no need to table an official bid either because Toni will stay with Bayern Munich at least until 2015."

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Speculation is that Clarence Seedorf’s relationship with Adriano Galliani has broken down, and that he will Milan in the summer.
The Dutchman has fallen under scrutiny during his brief spell as Coach at San Siro, for the Rossoneri’s continued indifferent form.
Despite seeing an upturn in recent weeks yield four consecutive wins, reports in the media this week have suggested that the 38-year-old’s future beyond the summer hinges on leading the club to at least a fifth placed finish.
However, the Gazzetta dello Sport today are running the line that relations between Seedorf and director Galliani are once more broken down, amid conjecture that the Coach was pressured at the weekend by the club to play Riccardo Montolivo from the start against Catania, after apparently initially deciding otherwise.
The Corriere della Sera follow this up with the assertion that Seedorf’s relationship with a number of those in the dressing room, including Montolivo, Christian Abbiati and Mattia De Sciglio, is also poor.
Combined with their belief too that Galliani is not on good terms with the former midfielder, the publication allege that Seedorf will leave in the summer, regardless of the team’s final League position.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Erick Thohir will reportedly take advantage of a meeting with Florentino Perez to discuss Inter’s interest in Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.
The young striker has impressed in the past year with the Spain Under-21 side and with the first team chances afforded him at the Santiago Bernabeu, but with competition at Los Blancos fierce, speculation continues to link him with a move away.
Whilst Arsenal are rumoured as interested, the Gazzetta dello Sport today insist that Inter remain in the hunt and will look to initiate talks later this month, when the two club Presidents get together on April 24.
The day that the Nerazzurri and Merengues present to the media their June 8 friendly, between club legends, it is speculated that Thohir and Piero Ausilio will look to discuss Morata’s potential availability.
The Gazzetta report that both Inter and Juventus were sniffing around the youngster in January and that La Beneamata were more willing than the Bianconeri to accept Madrid’s apparent proposal of a buyback clause included in any sale.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina, currently on loan at Italian side Napoli, has entered into the reckoning as a likely replacement for Thibaut Courtois, if Atlético Madrid are unable to extend his stay further from Chelsea.
Atlético Madrid are formulating a ‘Plan B’ if the option to keep hold of Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois, currently in his third season on loan from Chelsea, proves to be unsuccessful.
Spanish international Pepe Reina has strongly been linked with a return to La Liga, numerous times over recent months and in particular, as an option for Barcelona. However, Atlético Madrid have also reportedly maintained and interest, as they not only consider possible replacements for Courtois, but also second choice keeper Aranzubia, who hasn’t made the desired impact when he’s featured.
Whilst the salary package he currently earns is beyond the reach of Atlético, according to El Confidencial, his agent Manolo García Quillón recently met with director Miguel Ángel Gil, to discuss various options, including that of Pepe Reina.
It is believed that the goalkeeper may be willing to reduce his salary demands, in return for a lengthy and secure contract. There’s also the added temptation that his father, Miguel Reina, also played the best part of his career between the posts for Los Colchoneros, from 1973 to 1980.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Sebastian Rode is confident that he has what it takes to succeed at Bayern Munich and is keen to prove Pep Guardiola right for giving his transfer the green light.
Bayern announced the capture of the 23-year-old from Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer earlier this week, with Rode signing a four-year deal at the Bundesliga champions, and the midfielder is eagerly anticipating his summer move.
"Many people think that only seasoned professionals can make it at Bayern Munich," Rode was quoted as saying by Bild.
"I have to prove the opposite. I dare to do that, despite the fierce competition. I'll show everyone that I can do it.
"I have been assured in no uncertain terms that the coach is behind this transfer. There are no guarantees, I have to prove myself in training.
"If a team has been so successful, new players such as [Robert] Lewandowski and I are also important to maintain the hunger for success."

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Casemiro’s agent has revealed that he has spoken with Italian side Inter regarding a possible move.
The Real Madrid youngster has struggled for playing time at Santiago Bernabeu this term, despite being ear-marked as one to watch at the start of the campaign.
As such, the likes of Arsenal and the Serie A giants are thought to be interested in the midfieldeer, but the Brazilian’s representative has indicated that his client is happy in the Spanish capital.
“Have I spoken with Inter about Casemiro? Yes, I talked with them whilst I was closing the Hernanes deal in January,” Joseph Lee toldTuttoMercatoWeb.
“He is doing very well in Spain, but of course he’s happy that a club like Inter are following him.
“But since January I have not spoken to the Nerazzurri, and I think it would be too early to give any sort of comment.
“Casemiro likes the Italian League, but like I say, it’s too early to talk about that.”

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Jose Callejon has admitted leaving Real Madrid last summer was a tough decision, but insists he has no regrets as he nears the end of his first season with Napoli.
The 27-year-old made the switch to the Stadio San Paolo side in a reported €10million deal after failing to become a regular starter at the Bernabeu and Callejon has responded with a return of 12 goals in 32 Serie A appearances for Rafael Benitez's men in what has been an impressive debut campaign.
The former Espanyol man concedes he found it difficult to depart a club of Real's stature, but stated a desire for first-team football made it a necessity to leave.
"I left Real Madrid in order to find greater consistency to my performance, in order to play more and to make a change in my career," he told Corriere dello Sport.
"It had not been easy, Madrid are a club it is hard to leave, but at some point my love for football prevailed and I went to Napoli.
"Benitez described the project and spoke of this club. I had some offers, but I was convinced by everything. Now I can confirm that I wasn't wrong.
"In Madrid, football is important, you live with this enormous pressure. But here it has the same worth as religion.
"I feel good here and I feel the support of the people. I hope to go as far as possible with Napoli."

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
I'll find the source later when I have time, but I don't know if anybody has already posted that Juve allegedly had contact with Alexis Sanchez's agent regarding a move.
I'm pretty sure the news was broken by Sky Italia/GDM so it's not a trash rumour, that being said I struggle to see why Barcelona would sell anybody at this point in time, even if they aren't particularly wanted at the club
Unless Pedro starts on the right permenantly, and a youngster fills in the void with Alexis' departure. This is just guesswork from me though.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Valencia sporting director Francisco Rufete says Valencia are hopeful of keeping 21-year-old left-back Juan Bernat.
The defender, who won the Under 19 Euros with Spain in 2012, has made 28 La Liga appearances this season and has also been a regular in Valencia's march to the Europa League semi-finals and his bright performances have seen him linked to the likes of Manchester United and Napoli.
Valencia's well-documented financial problems have seen them sell many of their best players in recent years, with David Silva, Juan Mata, David Villa and Roberto Soldado all leaving the club for big-money fees.
But Rufete, says Valencia are determined to keep Bernat - who can also play on the left side of midfield - in Spain, despite foreign interest.
"Juan is a home-grown player from our academy and is a very important player for us," Rufete is quoted as saying in the Italian media.
"We want him to stay with us for a long time, but we also know that there are many clubs that are interested in him because he is playing at such a good level.
"It is good that the team continues to produce such results and Bernat is certainly a player that interests Napoli and many other clubs, but our intention is to keep him."

Emanuele Giaccherini looks likely to sign for Genoa over the summer, according to reports in the Italian Press.
The midfielder left Juventus for Premier League outfit Sunderland last summer, but despite a relatively successful time personally, the club are on the verge of relegation from the top-flight.
As such, the Italy international is set to leave the Stadium of Light, and return to Italy.
Il Secolo XIX write that Genoa have been in negotiations with the player, and are confident they can sign him during the off-season.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Iago Aspas has no desire to leave Liverpool this summer, according to the striker's agent.
The Spaniard, who joined the club from Celta Vigo last summer, has struggled to secure a regular place ahead of Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez in Brendan Rodgers' starting XI.
Aspas has made just 13 Premier League appearances this season, failing to score, but his representative has dismissed any talk of a potential summer move – though he did admit that the 26-year-old would "obviously like to play more".
"There is no possibility of Iago returning to Spain or going anywhere else," Rodriguez Baster told GianlucaDiMarzio.com. "Iago has a four-year contract with Liverpool and is very happy to be with the Reds, apart from the fact that he would obviously like to play more.
"But he is happy with Rodgers and he is not thinking about moving. I've never talked to any Italian club, Iago Aspas is fine at Liverpool and happy that the team is having a great season."

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
I'm beginning to believe that certain papers in the English media have a computer program that automatically scans rival headlines for stories involving Liverpool and a player, and then creates a "Spurs rivaling Liverpool" title and story based on ones it finds.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Inter president Erick Thohir has admitted that he would like to see Edin Dzeko, Fernando Torres or Alvaro Morata arrive at San Siro this summer.
All three strikers have been repeatedly linked with the Nerazzurri in recent months and the Indonesian businessman is making no secret of the fact that he feels coach Walter Mazzarri could do with another attacking option as he looks to rebuild the club he assumed control of earlier this season.
"We want to make Inter a healthy club inside the next two to three years," Thohir told reporters.
"That also means in terms of the squad. After having already signed Hernanes [from Lazio during the January transfer window], [Manchester United defender Nemanja] Vidic and others will arrive.
"We will take a forward. I know that names such as Dzeko, Torres and Morata are circling. If one of them arrives, it would be a good thing.
"We will also be able to take some Italians, but for the history of the club it's not an obligation.
"We want to also return to playing in the Champions League in two to three years.
"We must also balance the average of the squad, which will be 26.2 years old, and the squad, given that we will be playing three times per week.
"For not, Inter is among the top 15 footballing brands in the world. We want to get back among the top 10."
