Mou: Madrid players love mirrors
Madrid players were too busy queuing in front of the mirror, says Mourinho
The 51-year-old Portuguese was not impressed with his players' attitude during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu outfit
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has hit out at Real Madrid players as he feels they cared more about their public appearance than about winning trophies.
The Portuguese coach left los Blancos for Chelsea last summer after three years in charge of the Santiago Bernabeu side and he was not impressed by the attitude shown by his players during his time at the club.
"Lots of times at Real Madrid, the players would be queuing in front of the mirror before the game while the referee waited for them in the tunnel," Mourinho told Esquire.
"But that’s how society is now. Young people care a lot about this: they are twentysomething and I am 51 and if I want to work with kids I have to understand their world.
"I’m a manager since 2000, so I’m in my second generation of players.
"What I feel is that before, players were trying to make money during their career, be rich at the end of their career.
"But, in this moment, the people who surround them try to make them rich before they start their career."
Mourinho won one La Liga title, the Copa del Rey and a Supercopa de Espana during his three years at Madrid.

Re: Mou: Madrid players love mirrors
Nothing wrong that imo, as long as the game kicks off on time.
Maybe they could have mirrors fitted onto the pitch.

Re: Mou: Madrid players love mirrors
As amusing I find the comments, it's highly distasteful to see Mourinho continuing to talk about the Madrid group he left behind. I respect his right to answer any question the way he likes when asked about Chelsea, but it's best to simply brush off questions about past jobs. All I really see is an attempt to attribute the failure of the playing group to achieve the goal of La Decima in his time at Madrid to the conceited nature of the individuals rather than his efforts as a tactician.
The point he raises concerning the tendency of young players to feel that they deserve immense contracts before truly proving a thing has merit though.

Nothing wrong with it like MT says.
I find looking into the mirror very motivational and reassuring, maybe the Madrid players do too.
Except Khedira.

Nothing wrong with it since it does not affect player performance in any way
But still, when a man does this all time, it takes some serious alpha male points from his balance.

He's not criticizing Madrid players specifically. Way to grab the headlines.

Exactly
I have read how it was reported in Italy and it was a general matter about the today's players
and I agree 100% with him

Clearly not talking about Madrid specifically...
but this is a good moment to remember that one of Cristiano's ex claimed that he had a room filled with mirrors so he could admire himself.
//but probably not true...
