Arsenal would be 2 points behind first if they beat Stoke, Swansea and Everton.
Overall though we really need to improve in the big games. We were lucky Dortmund aren't as good as last season and they were missing half their team. Anyway I can still see us winning the CL regardless of our weaknesses.
On the basis of?

Re: Not Worthy of a Thread Mk. II
Whenever I watch Real Madrid vs the majority of La Liga sides, they just sit back and happily lose for the 10000th time.
When PL top teams play the 'lower sides', there's just more passion, energy and uniqueness about those teams.

I certainly don't remember Villarreal (Madrigal), Levante, Osasuna, Valencia, Espanyol, Athletic and Sevilla happily losing in such fashion.
Which is even more puzzling considering your complaints about Real Madrid being outplayed even when winning.
Passion energy and uniqueness of PL teams is true, though highly unquantifiable and missing the results that have been embarrassing for them equally if not more.

difference is still that we compete, we dont lose 6-0, 5-0, or 4-0McAgger wrote:RealGunner wrote:Arsenal vs top 4: P6, W1, D2, L3. Won 5/18 points;

Re: Not Worthy of a Thread Mk. II
Yeah, strange statement from MT. If we leave out the bottom 3 relegation teams in La Liga, Real Madrid have only won 1 away game with more than 1 goal difference the entire season: the Real Sociedad game recently.
Bernabeu is a different story. The most expensive team ever assembled at home turf scores 2 goals or more even against Bayern, prime Dortmund or Barca so rolling over midtable La Liga teams is to be expected.

Bilbao were outplayed in the first fixture and barely threatened during the match. Overall though the lower La Liga sides just lack the enthusiasm of the lower PL sides. Whenever most fans see Osasuna/Granada/Almeria/Celta Vigo/Rayo/Valladolid etc, I'm sure they're thinking winning will be a formality.
In terms of being 'outplayed', that's happened in the big games this season, like against Bilbao away.

As of the 12th matchday (of 19) there are 8 teams within 3 points of each other in the Argentine league. Most competitive league in the world

Pls go. In Segunda the gap between promotion play-offs (6th place) and relegation (19th place) is 9 points.

Well if you want to talk about 6 point differences there are 13 teams within 6 points of the top, which basically means almost everyone has a shot at the title.

Well, unsurprisingly that record didn't last too long in La Liga, the best league of all time. He lost 2 times at home in his first season alone. La Liga.

Re: Not Worthy of a Thread Mk. II
An Argentinian football team named for Pope Francisco to promote non-violence ended their opening match 2-2 with four red cards.
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/apr/14/papa-francisco-pope-football-sent-offThe club was almost named Real Buenos Aires, in honour of Real Madrid but eventually the idea of naming a club to honour the Argentina-born pope prevailed. The first match was played appropriately in Lujan, a site revered by local Catholics. Its famous Basilica of Our Lady of Lujan could be glimpsed from the playing field.
Several players acknowledged it may be difficult to always be on their best behaviour. "It will be a complicated thing if we insult others," said the midfielder Fabian Gaddi, "but the pope is Argentinian and he knows and understands us."

Excerpt from Pirlo's autobiography 'I Think Therefore I Play':
"I don't feel pressure ... I don't give a toss about it. I spent the afternoon of Sunday, July 9, 2006 in Berlin sleeping and playing the PlayStation. In the evening, I went out and won the World Cup."

Re: Not Worthy of a Thread Mk. II
Former Barcelona boss Radomir Antic believes that Lionel Messi is frustrated with Tata Martino.
The Argentine superstar was pilloried last week after only running 7km in Barca’s 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid.
But the Croatian tactician, who was in charge at Cam Nou in 2003, believes that the Ballon d’Or winner was annoyed about being deployed on the wing by the Coach.
“Messi did not do much running because the Coach told him to play as a winger. This was Messi's way of saying 'If you want me to play on the wing, I will do just that'," Antic told Goal.com.
“It is clear that Barcelona have a major problem. How are they going to accommodate Messi, Neymar and Andres Iniesta in one team?
“I don't think Messi will accept playing as a winger after everything he has done for Barcelona. He will say 'If you want me on the wing, I will play there, but whether I will get involved in the game is another thing...
Antic also admitted his surprise at Cristian Tello’s limited playing time this season under Martino.
“We are all talking about Messi, Neymar and Iniesta, but we forget one of the revelations of last season -Tello.
“He offers something that Alexis Sanchez, Pedro and the others don't have and brings a lot to the team.
“And then there's another problem and that's that good players don't always make up a good team. I think this is Barcelona's problem at the moment.”
