We don't need him, so what would be the point? United wouldn't get him, but that'd leave us with the problem of trying to fit Santi, Ozil, Cesc into the same side, simultaneously limiting the game time of Chamberlain, Podolski and Walcott, and blocking off the talented young players like Gnabry, Crowley and Zelalem.

I would still take Cesc. Despite the way in which he orchestrated his departure. At a cut price deal. Assuming Barca are willing to sell when they aren't allowed to buy.

Why?

Because when we have our annual injury rack-up, we will still have a good option. With the number of games we play in a season, we could do with depth. Top teams have quality depth.

But obviously, AW will be happy with the current midfield in terms of numbers and quality and not spend a shining dime.

Also: we have to manage the transition from Rosicky and Arteta (also Flamini, since he'll do his usual leave-on-a-free-when-contract-ends) to the next generation. These guys are not getting any younger.

Say what you want, but no player at Arsenal is better than Cesc.

We are the only team who can get Cesc for cheap, any other team has to pay close to 50m or even higher to get him.

Arsenal is not a charity club, all players must fight for their spot. You want to win major trophies than you need top players.

I just dont want see Cesc in another EPL club, if he goes to France, Italy then I dont care.

I'd take Ramsey and Özil over Cesc all day.

We have 3 players capable of playing AM: Cazorla, Rosicky, Özil

4 to occupy the CM slot Cesc can't even play: Arteta, Flamini, Jack, Ramsey (not even counting Diaby for obvious reasons)

With Zelalem coming up as well and hopefully a DM signing, there's just no need for him. No injury crisis will take out all three AMs and enough CMs to make it worth investing that much back in him. Don't let emotional attachment cloud your judgment.

I very much doubt that. You are basing your argument on what you remember of Cesc when he was a 23 year old Arsenal captain with (among) the best stats in Europe. He's 26 now and not doing as brilliantly as he did in a team which was built to bring out the best in him. (He turns 27 in May, iirc).

Anyway, it's all speculation.

You know transfer season is coming when Fabregas rumours start.

I find your lack of belief in our injury list disconcerting. We are more than capable of it. Iirc, we had our entire first 11 out sometime last season.

Anyway, it's not happening. Not with Xavi turning 35 next season and Fabregas wanting to establish himself as their orchestrator for the next decade or so. Not when Barca sold Thiago Alcantara, the only one close to challenging Fabregas for that position.

To think that all it takes is a Daily Mail story to get the Fabregas machine clunking again. Tut tut.

In today's market, Cesc is worth huge money imo, look at Mata how much United payed for him?

I am just saying teams would overpay for Cesc, ambitious teams dont care about over paying for a player who could help them win trophies.

This is all wishful thinking's, Cesc wont leave Barcelona unless he is being forced out, like Sri said he will be there for a long time.

His price is inconsequential because:

a. We don't really need him, although he'd be another good option to have.
b. He's not leacing Barcelona (unless something drastic happens).

It's time we got past our obsession with him.

It sickens me to the pit of my bowels to see speculation linking us with a certain Dutch player. And that's still a more likely deal than Fabregas.

Guys there is no point going back now. We have moved on from the Cesc era. We have Ozil who is going to lead us to a new and hopefully a much better era.

Last summer I would have committed dozen of murders if it meant Cesc coming back but with Ozil, Cesc is redundant. His wages can easily go to someone like Reus/SES who are much more needed. Or those 20-30m can easily go to someone like Lars Bender.

I still love Cesc but it really is time to move on.

While I agree that Cesc has put in some poor performances for Barcelona in the last year or so. I generally feel that this poor form of his is exaggerated by some. Example: Barcelona fans saying he is shit. Which isn't the truth.
