All that time discussing Kono and instilling faith into my fellow reds yet I forget the man responsible for our transfers is the no-account beacon of incompetence that is Ian Ayre. I cannot fathom how one man is responsible for a project to which is based success rates and closure. Dnipro are difficult to negotiate with based on their rather unprofessional manoeuvres in handling the window yet Ayre stinks of a man who hasn't the slightest clue or experience in such matters as he is completely out of his depth.

Inconsolably disappointed as I cannot fathom how we let this one go. Good riddance.

I don't think we can blame all of this on Ayre. It's our owners FSG who make available and sanction spending of cash and obviously we weren't able or prepared to meet Dnipro's asking price. Nothing that Ayre can do if he's got £16m in his pocket and Dnipro insist on 16m+n.

On top of that, just about every indication is that Dnipro's owner got involved and made things almost impossibly complicated. Those who have been covering the saga (if half a week can even be counted as such) tend to agree that Ayre and LFC are not at fault for how it's transpired.

But absolutely, let's all insult a man none of us have ever met, heard personal testimony on, nor have any real applicable knowledge of how he does his job. That seems reasonable and fair.

We're all merely disappointed that a man we instilled faith in was not the hero of the day, its a trend to blame Ayre and I'm looking for a scapegoat to absolve my disappointment. There was little ground in having such faith in Ayre as it is given that Ukrainian clubs along with Portuguese and anything Athletic Club are a nightmare to deal with, as their transfer philosophies form a gulf of difference into which aren't met congruent by clubs such as LFC.

I've never wanted Ayre at the club yet it is correct that Dnipro has severely wasted LFC's time despite making certain agreements clear, their billionaire owner not attuning to the terms out of either apathy, not needing to sell their best player or just being a mongrel.

We can only hope that LFC's pursuit of Kono will continue in the summer, quelling my massive disappointment by a certain degree.
