Julian Draxler
Off to Arsenal by all accounts. How good is he exactly?

Re: Julian Draxler
I'm curious to know where he'll be deployed in that side. Arsenal seem well equipped in that area.
Does Wenger plan to convert him in another role?

Re: Julian Draxler
Mostly known as an pacey winger with a bit of a flair. Walcott in a nutshell.

Re: Julian Draxler
Taller version of Ben Arfa with two feet..... mostly deployed on the left side though.
He can play in other positions but playing him anywhere other than on the left is a waste IMO.

Re: Julian Draxler
left winger
Draxler is a CAM, and thats his favorite position. Thats also one reason he is not that happy at Schalke because he is played out of position.

Hasn't he been playing #10 this season?
The one glaring flaw I noticed about his game over the two fixtures he played against us was his lack of pace. Very slow for a winger, then again so was Figo.

I think it's an unnecessary transfer, Arsenal already have Oxlade and Poldi. I think they have more concerning positions to mend than a LW.

That said, I think Wenger is going to convert him to a CF.

Wenger doesn't rate Podolski and he seems to think Oxlade's future lies in a CM role ala Gerrard.

Clearly you only saw Figo at Madrid.

Re: Julian Draxler
Draxler isn't very good as a CAM.
He doesn't have the vision, playmaking ability to slow and quicken the pace or passing range to be one.... he tries to do everything with his dribbling ability and its not suited to his skillset.
CAM maybe his favourite position but its not his best position....
Do i really need to name the amount of players who state CAM is their favourite position but can't play there as well as they do outwide?
Players know nothing, they should shut up and be told by the coaches what to do.

They need a striker. Hasn't Draxler been rumoured to become a striker?

KPB prime example. Left because he wasn't deployed as a CAM.

I know right. He was quite fast at Barcelona and still had speed at Real Madrid but more used his agility and guile to get past his marker ala Joaquin.
Anyway, nothing wrong with having more talented footballers to choose from. Only saw like 5 Schalke matches this season so he clearly knows something I don't...

Yep and when he raped us over both legs in 2000.

Draxler wouldn't be a striker. He's a terrific CAM but not a striker. He's been good at Schalke, it will be interesting to see him at Arsenal, I think he has a chance to fit in.

Re: Julian Draxler
Its not unnecessary when you are adding quality to the side. He's going to improve the team and thats all matters. Its not like Arsenal are stacked with attacking talent bar one or two players.
I share a similar line of thought with the Mata-United transfer.

Who knows? Wenger has converted Henry and RVP to strikers and Draxler certainly has the build (6'2) for that position if he bulks up.

Re: Julian Draxler
Draxler wont have a sniff towards the midfield of Arsenal because of the competition. Wenger will obv. play him as a forward.
