Re: Liverbirds to go Cherry picking!!!
Terrible game. You could tell players are trying not to exert too much energy. Funny enough, I think Moses has been our best players. And Hendo probably the poorest. Every touch he had was terrible. Jones needs to stop flapping at the ball as well. We're conceding way too many corners, they'll score one of those if we don't stop conceding them.
SAS, Gerrard, Cissokho, and Skrtel were very meh as well. It says something when Moses is out best player in a game

Moses been our best player... its 1-0 at half time. Should of been 2, Hendo missed a sitter. Would of been game over if he scored it.
They've been the better team.
We set up as a 424, got dominated per usual, and went to a 4231 with Suarez and Sturridge interchanging roles on the right.
Coutinho remains anonymous in a number 10 role.

Re: Liverbirds to go Cherry picking!!!
Came back home just in time to see Moses score on the 26th minute, didn't see anything special from us after that. Henderson needed to hit the target with his chance, that was woeful. Bournemouth with a couple of good chances to score themselves.
And yeah, I can't understand the formation. Why to carry on with it after the Villa howler. It really does still seem to be 4-2-4 and there's so much space between our midfield - especially when Gerrard often drops down to CB level to collect the ball - and forwards. We are really struggling to control the game and no wonder when playing such a top-heavy approach.
Still, 1 - 0 lead at HT, so let's just get the job done here and forget about this formation in the derby.

Re: Liverbirds to go Cherry picking!!!
therefore again 4231 (424)
is it a forced choice this time ? I mean.. have you other available midifielders over to Gerrard and Henderson?
because otherwise I don't think Liverpool can play with that game style

Re: Liverbirds to go Cherry picking!!!
4231 and 424 are two different styles, they're not even close. 424 is suicidal, we can't play it. Especially when neither Hendo or Gerrard can defend.
4231 is similiar to 433, so we can play it. Luis Alberto can play as the CAM but never gets a look in. 3
man midfield is also a lot better and easier to keep possession. Unforunately, Coutinho is not quite ready to play the number 10 role.

Excellent pass & finish there by SAS. This game should be won now.

Good win, don't care about anything else. Now all the focus and energy on the Mersey derby and then a nice long rest.
Sturridge has scored in every game since his return from injury

^ it wasn't a dive the pitch was just shit lol
glad we're through to the next round, no idea why sas + gerrard played the full 90........
wasnt impressed by luis' attitude / body language today. just looked out of it but had 2 assists and almost scored at the end so wasnt all bad.

Re: Liverbirds to go Cherry picking!!!
All right, so, a comfortable 2 - 0 win in the end, Bournemouth threatened more in the 1st half and looked willing to accept their fate after Sturridge's goal.
We need to sign a CM if nobody out of our non-CM options is capable of playing in that position. Playing SAS and two other attacking players is no contingency plan, it will see us destroyed in the Prem.
A bit disappointed we didn't make substitutions earlier and that eventually it was Sterling and not Ibe that got a few minutes. Kinda liked what Alberto did after he came on. Coutinho I would instruct to have a little more patience; his passing ability is great, but tries to go for the killer pass a bit too often when it's far more likely to end up at a defender's foot.
Full-back situation is bad, but that's nothing new.
Moses did pretty good.
Should Jones get a start in the league?

Re: Liverbirds to go Cherry picking!!!
No i didnt mean it only by pitch performance wise...
Btw, I think it was a good team selection to give more experience to give a drill to Gerrard and Hendo together, they didnt seem so comfortable with each other in the center.
I think BR should be very careful with this 4-2-3-1 thing, actually I had always wished something like this, but that is making that right flank very easy for the opponent to get to the end and create something

Re: Liverbirds to go Cherry picking!!!
Boring, uneventful and forgettable match.Save for the goals there's absolutely nothing much to say about the match. Is it just me alone or does anybody else noticed Henderson hasn't been good since Gerard came back?
And Kelly seems to be lost today, nothing in attack, defensively porous. Lemme guess, no match fitness eh?

I know. Can't wait for all of those managers to be interviewed for the job once we sack this clown who makes everyone look class.

Was it really 4-2-3-1 at any point? From what I saw I didn't see that - nor I think we have the players to pull that formation off successfully. That essentially requires three very good AMs and the striker playing a "semi-false-nine" role. No, I don't think we should attempt a 4-2-3-1, I know it's in fashion nowadays, but we just aren't the right team to play it.
IMO we should either play 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2, but our other experiments have ended up being way too top-heavy. Three CMs is a must for me, unless we start experimenting either with a 3-4-1-2 or 4-4-1-1 / 4-4-2.
What comes to Jones, I do think he deserves a start in the league. Mignolet has made a few mistakes lately while Jones has been reliable pretty much every time we have called upon him. He'd deserve a start, imo. Quite similar to the situation City had with Hart & Pantilimon.

It was a 4231 after the shambolic 424 in the opening 10-20 minutes of the game.
Coutinho dropped down into the hole, and Suarez/Sturridge were interchanging in the CF/RF roles. (Which put pressure on Kelly as neither have them helped out defensively.)
You don't need 3 CAMs to play a 4231, don't compare us to Chelsea. And you don't need a false 9, either.
4231 is A LOT better than the 424, but I really hope we go back to a 433/4321 and play death by football.
3412 and 442/4411 are useless. We don't have the players to play a 2 man midfield, nor is the 3 at the back any good. We conceded in EVERY GAME playing 3 at the back... it harms us more than it benefits us.
Mignolet is twice the player of Jones and should come back straight away. Jones is average.
