Fellaini replacement. Carrick will play at least a season and a half at top level. He is still quality. Blind is carrick's backup.
that midfield will realize the possession football/positional play he want to implement here. Fellaini is a mere short term option/ squad player.

well,Hoofing to fellaini is the only way to play with an in-form fellaini in any side. His strength demands that approach. So naturally annoyed opposition fans/managers and purists will mock us calling names. But if its a strategy that is working and if fellaini himself is playing well in that role, whats wrong in using that as a temporary option until someone better is brought ?
But if ya guys think that its going to be a permanent trend at united, with fellaini as the main man and stoke like tactics as the default tactics, then well, what can I say. prepare for a surprise next season may be ?

If you want someone for the Arteta spot who else is better? Illaramendi for the same money?
It's true - we should have some spots freeing up with Diaby and mostly one of Rosicky/Cazorla/Arteta gone. Arteta looks most likely to extend and the Cazorla rumours don't go away. Rosicky will mostly want to leave for regular game time. Would leave us with Wilshere, Ramsey, Coquelin - not including youth players or Chambers (who's supposed to be a DM). We could do with him, but just don't see AW as wanting to strengthen there.
Besides, I think midfield is the most likely candidate for the next edition of our annual injury mayhem.

The only way he would ever come to Liverpool, would be if we actually got Klopp first.
I can see Emre Can - Gundogan German midfield work out perfectly under Klopp with Coutinho at AM
@Glory, you're way off mate. We're not looking for a DM. We're looking for a CM because Gerrard is leaving. We've got Lucas, Emre Can, and to a lesser extent Allen who can all do the job.

So Gundogan and Can are going to displace Henderson who is better than both? Yikes.

Under Klopp they would
Henderson better than Gundogan Only you and Red Alert would make such bizarre statements, Polar opposites in opinions yet eerily similar outrageousness, the yin to his yang if you would. Think I'm call you two that.

I think you're throwing stones in a glass house there commenting on other peoples' 'outrageous statements', but yes Henderson is currently better than Gundogan. Pre-injury no, but he has yet to hit that level since coming back.

People seem to be rating Gundogan like this is 2012. There are at least 20 midfielders who have been better than post-crisis Gundogan in Europe. Henderson could very well be in it.

Gundogan with his fat belly and crutches would still be better than Henderson.
Tell me this if we have the best players and the best manager in the league why are we so shit?
For those that remember 2011, this is exactly like that season under Kenny when Liverpool fans were claiming that we had the best midfield (Lucas-Gerrard), the best CB partnership (Agger-Skrtel) the best RB (Johnson), the best keeper (Reina), the best player (Suarez), the biggest balls, the longest cocks, the nicest cars, etc and yet we finished 8th

Doesn't sound completely off the mark to me. Well, maybe the part with "best midfield (Lucas-Gerrard), the best CB partnership (Agger-Skrtel) the best RB (Johnson), the best keeper (Reina)" and "the biggest balls, the longest cocks, the nicest cars" might be wrong. But you DID have Suarez.

Re: The Ilkay Gündogan Transfer Speculation Thread
Who ever claimed we have the best players? Anyone? In fact the only players that I've really rated, and seen consistently rated this season, are Henderson and Coutinho. But I can see why you would be confused thinking they are 'all' the Liverpool players given our team's on-pitch performances this year.
In fact I've constantly talked about how the other members of the top 5 have much better squads and depth than us, as well as top tier managers and more money yet you guys are bitching like Liverpool 'deserve' a top 4 spot and Rodgers is a fraud because he couldn't take us there on the back of the current squad.
But yeah, Henderson is better than Gundogan right now. He has been decidedly average this season for every game I've seen of Dortmund (which admittedly is not many) but most Dortmund fans have said the same. He would not walk into Liverpool and displace Henderson and Can certainly isn't close to Henderson yet (if we were to sign Gundogan he would play WITH Henderson...and Henderson is a dream type player for Klopp anyway).
