Re: Seedorf
Seedorf will use the 4-2-3-1 according to Sky Sports. This my favourite formation because it offers many options. The problem with this formation is the defence, let's see how seedorf deals with this problem.

Not really optimistic going with the 4-2-3-1. Allegri scrapped it because he had legitimate reasons, and I don't think we're better off with that formation, especially when considering the fact that there's not a significance change in personnel.

Robinho
I guess El Shaarawy will replace him when he's back. Emanuelson, pls go with the Dutch bias Clarence. Abate is far superior to him.

Agreed, also limits playing time for Cristante and Poli. Though i understand considering Muntari and Montolivo are absent for R16, and he doesn't have many options. Maybe he's trying to experiment. Also, i feel that this setup will leave Balo more isolated upfront. I don't think he'll contribute to the buildup as much as he'd like to.
Anyways, it'll be interesting to see Honda on the right. Hopefully we nab a win against Jorginho-less Hellas.

I've been waiting for 4-2-3-1 mechanics and all , for months now. Seedorf
With the 4-2-3-1 , our defenders should improve (or we will suffer..!) in time to form a viable , focused unit when defending counter attacks . And i believe the 4-2-3-1 mechanics should earn us a significant boost to our defensive attitude too , since almost every (good) team which goes with the 4-2-3-1 has that trait.. let's hope we become an example in time.
As for Emanuelson and Abate , i don't get you guys sometimes , really now.. you do realise Emanuelson is having probably his best season with Milan , as a leftback and during this difficult phase for the team. Right? On the other hand , Abate is the one who sucks srsly this season , not Urby. Urby only lacks the fanbase's trust , to free himself of the burden that is having to be flawless but conservative. Instead , he should be free of that burden and he seems to be on the right path this season. With Seedorf and the 4-2-3-1 , he will become even better , i hope.
And soon own dat left flank . Abate is at a point after his latest injuries where he has to earn his position back , i fear. He can have it back i do not doubt , but don't act surprised if Emanuelson continues to provide more. Abate has many positive characteristics and he's a great Milanista , but srsly , he's so one dimensional whilst the same cannot be trully said about Emanuelson. Sure he's backpassing is noticable , but that's barely reason to ditch him when he brings many more into our game.
It's kinda weird how our section ditches on Urby , when he has been one of the few positives this season. I do not know if you haven't noticed or you just do not agree , but his progression has been obvious to me and i think in better days it would show a lot more.
Something last on the 4-2-3-1 , it's "all we need" , i've been asking for this for too long. Having said that , although i definitely agree with it's introduction as soon as possible , i believe the absence of Ses and our general lack of improvement in defence , may or may not make the transition to the 4-2-3-1 unstable.. I expect ups and downs , down the road but more positive results than we are used and better football. If our defence improves with time , it should prove to be even better and by the time Ses comes back and re introduces himself into the system , we should be making tons of progress.
Let's hope. Also , whatever happens , Montolivo's position is last year's Montolivo. I don't know what will happen but Montolivo seems like another player when he's the dlp / playmaker in the pivot . He must stay that way , either in the 4-2-3-1 or in any other system. De Jong can be our Gattuso if he likes , there's no other way. We cannot really have our captain flop and he has been away from his favourite position.

Re: Seedorf
We have seen the effects of the 4-2-3-1 when Allegri desperately switched his formations at the times that we were falling behind in the score line. It has been a very effective formation, it enables us to utilize the strengths of both De Jong and Montolivo since they do their best as anchors. Also, we will have many attacking options.
I hope that Seedorf applies a tactic in which the 3 players behind the striker can rotate positions to confuse the opponent. This will make our attack much more fluid, and potentially one of the most dangerous in Europe.

Re: Seedorf
I agree with Dante's points. I would also like to add that Seedorf can work out away around our defensive problems. Since both Montolivo and De Jong do their best in the pivot positions, they can help our defensively in a fashion similar to that of the 3-5-2, this could potentially create a very solid back line that can temporarily hide our defensive problems. Also, I think that El Shaarawy could be the perfect player for this formation since it utilizes his hard work and actually makes it easier for him to make runs, similar to ribery.

In today's training session, I saw Seedorf spending extra time with Balo; I think he was trying to make him more active in the striker role so that he is more involved in the play. I believe that Seedorf is trying to apply some part of the ajax philosophy in our gameplay.
Also, like I stated earlier, I would love it if seedorf manages to create a plan in which the 3 players behind the striker can rotate positions; this means that Kaka, Robinho, and Honda could switch positions so that they can escape their markers, offer more fluidity upfront, and open up vital spaces for Mario to take advantage off.

Edgar Davids resigned from his post as Barnet boss on Saturday, opening the door for him to return to Italy and become Clarence Seedorf's assistant coach at AC Milan, according to Il Giorno. Hernan Crespo and Jaap Stam are also expected to join the staff.

Hernan Crespo has revealed he has an offer from AC Milan.
New Milan coach Clarence Seedorf wants to add the former Chelsea, Inter Milan striker to his backroom staff.
“I am Seedorf’s friend and he asked me to work with him. He asked me for this collaboration and things developed quickly,” Crespo told Fox Sports Italia.
“There are three options: I can start working now, start in July or not begin at all. I would like to be a Coach in future. Clarence’s offer is an option and can be a solid one, but so far nothing has happened.”
“We have discussed using a different individual Coach for each area of the team and we are united in that idea. We think it is the right path,” added Crespo.
“I hope and believe in experimentation. Once people said it was madness to have a specialised Coach for the goalkeepers, so this could be an important development

Re: Seedorf
Andriy Shevchenko has admitted that he was surprised to see former teammate Clarence Seedorf named as the new coach of AC Milan.
Seedorf replaced Massimiliano Allegri at the San Siro after Milan decided to sack the 46 year-old after a 4-3 defeat away to Sassuolo.
“His arrival was unexpected. I can only wish him good fortune,” Shevchenko told segodnya.ua.
“I played alongside him for a long time and he is one of the best midfielders in Rossoneri history. The club chose him and therefore really believe in him, even if it his first experience as a coach.”

Idk about Davids , but i am most interested in Stam. Man i loved him when he played for Milan and he has some years too in coaching and all. He takes his time and i admire that. Idk who will arrive and who won't , but Stam i want him to join Seedorf's coaching staff more than anyone. Even though it might not happen..but still

Re: Seedorf
i am so glad seeedorf is coming here, one of the things i m hoping under seedorf next season are:
1. quality football, quality midfield - possession football
2. dutch talents
3. dutch style football hopefully.
4. if stam is appointed, hopefully he brings quality in defense
5. ship off shitty players we have right now
6. preference on quality, and talents over players on form.
what i m not hoping,
1. seedorf should cast aside the friendship, and be the coach that everybody expect him to be, strict, sincere, focused, detailed.
2. hope defense is not neglected because he himself is attacking minded player

Re: Seedorf
Well, we got 3 points from this game, but we learned some lessons as well:
-Without a focal point at attack, we are still struggling to break-up teams.
-Honda increases our team's creativity, but he best centrally.
-We are slow on the counter, and often have poor chemistry.
These are some of the issues Seedorf will need to address in the future.

Re: Seedorf
Zapata was great tonight, can't say the same thing for MDS and Emanuelson though.
We seem to be having trouble to break teams down when they bunker up. This may be a problem when we face Atleti since they defend as a team. I still think that the defense needs fixing, and we need to be more assertive in the final 1/3.
Anyways, we got the 3 points and that is what matters. Forza Milan.

Our attackers need to play better together, give them time since they are not really used to any formation due to Allegri switching formations continuously. Once El Shaarawy is back, he can open us a lot of spaces with his movement and allow more fluidity.

Re: Seedorf
congratulations are in order.. no more dai dais..
brilliant first half followed by sh..ty second half.. documents our problems in all areas.. from attack, midfield, and defense.
from midfielders, honda kaka, montolivo and maybe de jong .. im satisfied...
with robinho balotelli they were just piss poor
defense- everybody was s.hty and we were lucky not to concede.
so now seedorf needs to analyse this game what was positive and what is negative and put that on next game.
i was disappointed honda was taken off because after he went off, milan had less possession and they attacked more

Re: Seedorf
so it seems like Jaap Stam is very much likely to come in and join our staff. few days ago frank de boer said that Stam has contract until 2016 but could leave so yes.!!!
and hernan crespo has even come forward himself and said either i join now or in june or not join at all.
and davids is a maybe... maybe thats why he called his player-coach career.
hopefully our next year's recipe is not ruined by too many chefs but, nevertheless, we require some strong character in the staff rooms, and Jaap stam especially fits the bill. him and frank de boer has done great job for consecutive years domestically.
and i m really super excited on the prospects of having some quality dutch talents on our ranks as well as seedorf have already target doria of Botafongo as our New CB, and Fernando of Porto is very much likely ours by June.
whatever happens from now all the way to june, even if its bitter results, I am ready to swallow, as long as domestically we dont go near relegation zone and in CL we dont get humiliated.
my verdict on seedorf will only start from the end of the next season. this season allegri and our management has already messed up so bad, and we have fallen so bad... only way is up now

Hello friends,
We say; Wen you are upto your neck in the soup, you see the meatballs floating around you!
Even Seedorf has no experience, I believe in him and therefore in a better future of Milan!
It can't be worse anyway!
Frank de Boer has shown that without any experience at all, you can be a toptrainer, with 3 National championchips on a row and a "nice to watch" typical Ajax playstyle!
Jaap Stam is his assistent for the defense is a good choice aswell!
The future looks bright again!

Re: Seedorf
Clarence Seedorf's magnificent playing career can inspire AC Milan's players on to great things, according to star striker Mario Balotelli.
The Italy front man, speaking at a launch event for the PUMA evoPOWER boot, said he is delighted to be working with the new Milan boss and explained why he believes Seedorf's impact can make a huge difference to the stuttering Rossoneri.
"I'm really happy he has come. He's a good person and was a fantastic player, so he knows his football," said Balotelli. "He won four Champions Leagues with three different clubs – I think that's the most important thing [for the players to remember].
"It's good because he knows how to play football. When you have someone who has played football before and has won so much, maybe you listen more."
The Dutchman took the reins at Milanello in mid-January following the sacking of Massimiliano Allegri. With the ex-Cagliari boss in charge, Milan had recorded only five league wins in 19 fixtures this season, and Balotelli says it was natural that Allegri would eventually pay the price.
"I don't know why it didn't work out. When a team doesn't play well and teams don’t succeed, it's normal that a coach is sacked. It happens to every club and this time it has happened to him. But Allegri did very well in his time at Milan and everybody is happy with what he did. Now we have to think about Seedorf; Seedorf has to think about Milan, and we'll start again."

Re: Seedorf
We play a lot more of an attractive style with Seedorf that is for sure. For me, Robinho is killing the balance. He just doesn't have that extra step that he once had. His inability to get past players and to get wide kills us. I can't wait to see Taarabt out there stretching the opponent. Once SES comes back I'd honestly start thinking about how much Kaka has left as a starter every match as well. Kaka gives his heart and soul to the squad, but just doesn't have that dynamic spring to his step anymore. Don't get me wrong, he is still a very good player, but I think he should be rested and used at the right times.
