Wheeler-Dealer : Beppe Marotta
Juventus director general Beppe Marotta says his club will spend the summer trying to build a side to battle for the Champions League.
The Old Lady will return to the competition after winning the Scudetto on Sunday night with a 2-0 win over Cagliari at Trieste.
“Two years ago we looked for quantity, now we want to add quality,” the transfer official told Radio Anch’io Lo Sport on Monday.
“We are already competitive for the Champions League, but we’ll look for the cherry on top to touch up this fantastic squad.”
The Bianconeri’s League triumph is their first since their 2005 and 2006 titles were taken away from them as they were demoted to Serie B for their part in Calciopoli.
“Everyone knows the history of Juventus,” Marotta added. “In 2006 we ended up in Hell, we passed through Purgatory and now, with this Scudetto, we are back in Heaven.
“The re-birth started with the return of an Agnelli as President because behind a winning team you need a strong club.
“Boss Antonio Conte was our leader and our added value, he’s had an extraordinary campaign.
“It would be nice to celebrate the season with the Coppa Italia too. It would be the right way to crown the campaign.
“We will face this task against Napoli knowing that we will have to honour the shirt of Juventus.”
Juventus continue to maintain that their two stripped titles were legitimate, hence their promise that next season’s jersey will have three stars on it to represent 30 titles and not 28.
“We believe that we suffered a strong injustice and that is why we identify this title as our 30th,” Marotta added.
“President Andrea Agnelli knows very well what this means, but now we are only thinking about celebrating this victory which was won with transparency on the pitch.”
Marotta was inevitably asked about the future of Alex Del Piero, the club captain who will not have his contract renewed in the summer.
“The club have already expressed themselves and I don’t want to comment further on it,” the ex-Sampdoria man noted.
“Today we are celebrating the title, one which Del Piero played an important role in and we know that he is a champion who has given a lot to this club.”

Re: Wheeler-Dealer : Beppe Marotta
It seems like Borriello might just stay.Quags recently extended his contract.
So we currently have a strikeforce of Vucinic,Borriello,Quagliarella,Matri and hopefully Alex.
I just somehow feel Matri's position in the team might be uncertain Considering the fact that we almost certainly are looking to sign a top CF.What say ?

A top CF would/could probably displace one of Boriello, Quagliarella, Matri

I hope we sell Matri. The reason being that Quag would get more playing time than Matri as he can play CF or ss. Also, I would rather see Matri play first team football somewhere else as I am still thankful for him helping Juve and never complaining.

Yes but i am just implying that once a top forward arrives one of them might just be deemed surplus.
Now clearly Borriello is brought for depth and i guess he is happy to stay under Conte.Quags is certainly an integral part in Conte's plans. Now the big question is regarding Matri's future ..I aint sure he'd be happy to sit on the bench for long ,though i'm sure there will be some clarity on his future in the coming days.
I am not asking him to be sold but if ever there arised an oppurtunity like the rumor we heard about Cavani's signing by including Matri in the deal ,i would gladly do it.

Oh, in that case I completely agree.
Yes, if given the choice I would sell Matri and not buy Boriello. Depending on who would be available in place of both though.

Re: Wheeler-Dealer : Beppe Marotta
Send Boriello back to Roma and see if Matri can be sold to anyone offering decent money for him. Bring back Immobile and extend King Alex' contract for another year. This could be our striking force next year:
Del Piero, Vucinic, Quagliarella, Immobile, Giovinco and TOP CF.

Marotta talks Juventus transfers
Juventus director general Beppe Marotta has underlined that Champions League progress could subsequently aid the club in the transfer market.
The Old Lady were unable to sign a big name striker in the summer that they so desperately wanted, but a good European run could help Marotta bring in new faces.
“The Champions League is also appealing for economic reasons,” the former Sampdoria official stated. “That is why it is important to progress.
“Signing a striker in January, putting our financial resources to one side, will also depend a lot of who is available at the time…”
The Turin giants have been paired with a possible move for Didier Drogba, the Ivorian international who is now playing his football in China with Shanghai Shenhua.
“I will exclude nothing,” Marotta said when asked about the former Chelsea striker.
Juventus need a point from their final group game at Shakhtar Donetsk to qualify for the last 16 of the European Cup.

Why not try and get Fernando Torres? That is if he doesn't work out with Benitez

His wages are enormous from what I know
I agree with Marotta, it really depends on who is available. January is the time where you might make a Barzagli like transfer (although I doubt we'll get this lucky with an attacker) or you overpay for mediocrity (Matri 16M after all was said and done...)

I'm really opposed to signing Torres, last thing we need is a striker who is useless.
Form isn't something that lasts for years, he's finished and has been for a long time.
