I'm not saying Belgium are all that but they could build some momentum leading into the knockout rounds with that piss easy group.
Hazard, Lukaku & De Bruyne are all obviously key to that. Hazard especially, it would be the perfect stage to announce his name to the World if he hasn't done already.
The likes of Neymar, Messi & Ronaldo are going to have some fun in Brazil. Messi especially, expect him to break the group stage goals record.

People overrate passion at the world cup. Chile will have grit etc, etc. That's crap. Every team will play with grit. This is the f*cking world cup ffs. Quality is always the difference here.

If VDB is stubborn and plays Arbeloa, Pique, Xavi and Cesc Spain will get nowhere. This is the perfect time to introduce the new guys. They are very lucky Negredo is doing very well atm or else they would've been in massive trouble (still some time left though so anything can happen)

Still finished above your precious Uruguay in qualifying..... anyway who rates them lol?McAgger wrote:Chile are super overrated for me. Sanchez washing cars as a kid won't help him here.
Uruguay on the other hand is this godly team because they have Suarez.... they really are not, if they were as good as people describe them as they wouldn't have finished 5th in qualifying and that is without Brazil

Momentum is not going to mean much when they face Germany in the 2nd round lol.Gil wrote:I'm not saying Belgium are all that but they could build some momentum leading into the knockout rounds with that piss easy group.

My prediction of them not getting past the 2nd round is looking good

Don't think Negredo will start. Diego Costa got the CF spot locked on.halamadrid2 wrote:If VDB is stubborn and plays Arbeloa, Pique, Xavi and Cesc Spain will get nowhere. Overrate passion at a WC? R U SERIOUS??
Chile are a tough team. We played them in a friendly and they play nice + tough footy. Very well organized.

Save your predictions lads. We have no idea what type of form these teams will be in by the time the world cup rolls along.
Keep in mind the travel/weather is a huuuuuuuge factor this time. Especially in tight groups.

De Bruyne Lukaku Hazard
No fullbacks, no goals in midfield and apparently they play Germany or Portugal in the QF's depending on their draw. Yeah they're *bleep*.

Diego Costa hasn't even had an appearance yet for Spain. Besides Negredo is alot more complete than him and generally better at adapting to other formations and stylesM99 wrote:Don't think Negredo will start. People seem to be ignoring this.... Chile are not only a great team ( i emphasis the word team) but they are very organised as well as being young and fit.sportsczy wrote:Overrate passion at a WC? R U SERIOUS??

I think if the likes of Morrison, Barkley, Sturridge & Townsend continue to progress over the next couple of months leading into the WC we could potentially spring a surprise.
The form and fitness of Gerrard, Carrick, Rooney, Hart and Baines are also key. We HAVE to recall Terry though. It's obvious to anyone Cahill, Smalling, Jones and Jagielka aren't good enough.
Hasn't this been done before?
England have the quality players, but they just don't get it right as a team.

Seconded. The teams who want it more usually get something or at least come close. Tournament football is a different animal, forget what you think you know about the game.sportsczy wrote:Overrate passion at a WC? R U SERIOUS??
If this were two legged games like the CL then yeah, the Cream of the crop usually avoid slip ups. One off games however, they don't tend to go smoothly at least not for the teams that are not truly elite.

Yeah people forget injuries always seemingly happen before every big tournament. Just hoping it isn't any "superstar".
Don't want entertainers like Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, Hazard missing the biggest spectacle in sports.

I'm sorry but there is absolutely no complacency at the WC. Unless you are just having an utter shit day, the better teams with the better players progress.Zealous wrote:Seconded. Read the post again. I'm not saying we're going to win the damn thing just that we can get past the groups.El Gunner wrote:Gil wrote:They had to qualify for this tourney through the playoffs and they were pretty poor in the Confed Cup. They're on the decline ffs.

Seems people aren't happy unless we're pessimistic about everything.

He's Belgiums best player and he's one of the most entertaining players to watch in full flight. No one has said he's as good as Messi/Ronaldo.halamadrid2 wrote:Why is Hazard mentioned in the same brackets as the others???? due to his game against Sunderland? ?
