- Mid-season finale possible spoilers:
The Walking Dead has an appointment for revenge at Grady Memorial Hospital this weekend, with the mid-season finale, "Coda," airing Sunday, November 30 at 9pm. The fight will be led by Norman Reedus's Daryl, who's especially driven to rescue his two beloved allies, Beth (Emily Kinney) and Carol (Melissa McBride), both of whom are being held captive by the hospital's menacing police brigade.
"He's ready to just burn the place down," Reedus says. "It's a different world now, and certain people have gone so dark that you have to put down the rabid ones in order to survive."
Reedus describes the hour's final moments as so "devastating" that they unleashed an intense wave of feelings before the cameras rolled. "I sat on an apple box with my head between my legs and just bawled for an hour," he says. "I really wanted not to tear up during [the scene]—I wanted to be like I had wasted every tear in my body before we started shooting—so I just sat there and cried and cried and cried."
The tragic events will push Daryl into new emotional territory. "He's one of those characters where they keep dangling a carrot in front of him and he keeps reaching for it," Reedus says, "but the carrot falls in the mud right before he's about to get it."
Get hype Daryl to become new Rick while Rick becomes Shane
i see the hopes were high in this thread
Not only did Beth use scissors *zoolander voice* made for ants, she also stabbed her in like, the freaking collar, man. That's not even going to put her out of work for more than a day or two. Hasn't she watched the show? Doesn't she know that it's throat or brain with sharp objects? Eye stabbing and anything else really only makes the villain more powerful/intimidating.
I did like the episode where Eugene got trucked.
But for a second there I thought someone important would die.

Re: The Walking Dead II
Holy shit. Didn't see that coming. Last 15 minutes were emotional as F. Unbelievable stuff
The good
Loved the pace of the episode. Thought they did justice to the characters and their point of view. Dawn was actually quite complex. I couldn't decide if I wanted to sympathise with her or hate her. She became the top dog after killing the old top dog, but she started losing her status and wanted to go to extreme lengths to put down the hold but no one actually cared. She saw Beth in her and maybe that's why she wanted to protect her. I don't agree that she was using Beth like Beth mentioned. The only reason she wanted Noah back was because she could control him.
Beth trying to kill her with the scissors was stupid, but she did it to save Noah. I guess it was a stupid decision on her part. But she understood how the hospital system worked. I kinda feel sorry for Dawn actually. She didn't want to kill her, it was a reflex action. But I am conflicted on why Beth couldn't just walk away. Did she really change that much to become from a weak ass rat into a lion? She wanted to cause a revolution? She did. Hospital ended Dawn's regime and there will be new system in place and she freed Noah. But wasn't it selfish of her to go to that extent? I don't know what to think.
The opening scene was one of the best of this season. Easily. Rick is one bad ass mf. "He wouldn't stop" "shut up" . Awesome opening.
Loved the scenes between Beth and Dawn as I explained earlier. They were fantastically done. The tone, pace and the setting were all top level stuff.
Daryl's and Maggie's reaction to Beth's death was unbelievable. Finally saw Maggie being useful. Daryl has evolved into an amazing character. He is unkillable lol.
The Bad
THAT POS PRIEST MAN. FML. I really hope he dies a slow and painful death when walkers decide to eat him slowly. If they keep him alive for another 8 episodes
brb church is safe. brb food, water, guns everything inside. brb lets go outside and f everything up cause yolo.
Hate that pos. But then, they had to destroy the church so the story could move on.
some of the scenes were useless. Sasha and Tyrese scene was terrible. "errr remember when we were kids?" Nah mate no one gives a shit about that. That was completely pointless. Just like the last few eps they put that in to take it to 42 mins.
Second half of the season
What's next? I still can't believe they killed Beth over Carol. That was a double bluff. But what's next for the group?
Think they will go to DC. Whole group is together now. And they are on the road so a lot of action and drama to come. There are way too many characters though so hopefully few die on the way through.
Few episodes were decent at best but Generally the season was great.
8/10 for the first half.

My pos download did not have the post credit scene Is there a youtube link?
And this season was poor apart from the Hunters story arc. The first three episodes were amazing but then the show went to second half of season 3 level (which I actually liked contrary to others but do recognise it as weaker than other parts of the show). RG was right when he said the show falls flat when they decide to do their own original story arcs instead of adaptation from the comic. The mid season finale was the weakest the show has had, it was an average episode apart from Rick's banter with the running cop and Beth getting her head blown up (knew it would happen, no way was it going to be a perfect trade but my heart still jumped) in the end. Ffs they better pick it up in the second half.

Re: The Walking Dead II
Well oh well. Many mixed feelings about the mid-season.
I think it was in a sense very well executed The Walking Dead style, like they usually do. Sure it isn't like the mid-season of last season which was just on another level, they went all out in that episode and really they needed to after taking so long to get the Rick - Governor showdown going.
This season's was more slow. I think the writers focused on the characters a bit more. They tried to somehow make a really humanly-emotional buildup towards the mid-season, but did they execute it as wonderfully as possible. No. Why? Well for starters the show has too many characters and that makes it tough to get enough emotion invested in one character alone. I think they did the job best well with Dawn and Beth in the last 4 episodes or so. Dawn was a strange person really, and she worked on contradicting methods/ethics. I feel this side to the story they could've focused on more and maybe cut out the Glenn + co fishing trip in episode 5. So as I said, there are many charaters and it makes it tough for the writers because they try to fit all in with meaningful storylines/arcs, but what even makes it worse is that the episodes are 40-45 min long. I really don't like this, especially when TWD is known for long dialogue scenes sometimes and a lot of standing still. They could fit in 10 mins per episode imo and then over the course of 8 episodes that's an extra 80 mins. EXTRA 80 MINS! Now just think how much better the writers could've build up emotion towards a mid-season with an extra 80 mins and also give us a better, more detailed portrayal of Dawn because I genuinely feel she was a good, interesting character and they could've gotten more out of her.
Anyway, moving on to the episode. Beth really got into my heart this season even with limited screentime, and it was really sad to see her go. The episode felt a bit rushed at times, but there was also the Dawn - Beth scenes which were really good and also the last part of course, and everytime Rick was involved as well. Andrew Lincoln really carries this show massively imo, he as Rick has such a huge on screen presence and it just makes any scene 10x better when he is in it. I hope for more Rick-present episodes in the second half of the season. Also read somewhere that Scott Gimple said Michonne will have more of an impact in the second half.
I think it will do the show good if they just give her, Rick and Daryl most screentime in the second half as they are still the best characters in this show. Plus with Morgan of course, all these post-credit scenes ffs it's time to stop that and bring the guy back into the show. Carol in a wheelchair, I can't see much impact coming from her anytime soon. So I dunno. Guess we'll just have to wait and see where the group go from here.
Long break now. Tho' if you pop into the time thread in the life & humor section you will get the feel that it won't be too long before it's back.

Re: The Walking Dead II
So Maggie doesn't mention Beth's existence for 2 seasons (maybe more), and suddenly decides to give a shh the one episode Beth dies. Haha that scene when Michonne tells her Beth is OK and Maggie lets out a cry of relief felt forced and fake. smh. Writing is all over the place. It's like they felt compelled to attach the fact that, you know, those 2 are actually family, and wanted some semblance of emotion.
Too late, man. Should've had Maggie enquire about Beth's well being from the start, build up some connection between the viewer and her. But nope, they decided to let her continue to be Glen's puppet.
Same applies to Beth, did she even mention Maggie's well being whenever she made contact with the group. Just unrealistic to the extreme. anyone in a post apocolyptic world will hold their loved ones as their no.1 priority.
Also Beth's death was stupid as hell. Shank a nose hair scissors in Dawn's collar bone, yeah great idea Perfect;y set up for Beth to die. Dumb as hell.
The season started off well, had 3 great back to back episodes, then tailed off. Fillers, with one decent episode in between.
I feel the show desperately needs a new angle, it needs a new incentive for the group rather than have them go from point A, shack up in a place, run into a group, have one of their members kidnapped, the group plan their escape, then one of them die *rinse/repeat* It's getting boring.....boring, boring dialogue to boot too.
Another thing I'd like to see is for some of the group members to die. There are far too many of them. With the introduction of the new characters, characters like Maggie and Glen need to go. They are offering nothing to the show and it feels like they've gone stale.
We need more character development for Rosita and Tara. These little characters need to come to the fore now. Cant be having a bunch of T.dogs mk1,mk2's walking about. Look at Beth, we didn't really know her until the latter seasons, despite her being on the show since season 2. The writers need to do so much better at evolving these small characters, cuz quite frankly, half the time I don't even realize they're there, or give a shh about them.

Daryl and Rick remain the only two unkillables to me. Carl has learned to get back in the house too so I don't see that.
Definitely forgot Beth and Maggie were related.

Maggie's reaction conveyed that she thought beth was dead all along. Maybe it was lazy writing or maybe it wasn't. I dont know. But it definitely got the best reaction from her.
