Bollocks. Half of his 8 League goals came in the last month, and 1 of the remaining 4 before then was a penalty (the farcical one against West Brom). 3 goals from open play in 3½ months (2 of them in 1 game - Cardiff) before hitting form. Hardly worthy of guaranteeing an automatic place in the team no questions asked for almost 4 straight months, especially when Mourinho keeps banging on about 'earning your place' with performances whenever Mata's brought up.

With Essien possible to leave, we'll literally have 3 CM's, signing Guarin is a start.

With Lampard possibly playing his last season, we could have 5 CM's next season which would be plenty depth + quality:

Van Ginkel,
New top class CM.
