Where is Mata going in January?
With Mourinho stating Oscar will be back as No.1 for the champions league match it is now apparent Mata is part of the backup Brigade(Rightfully so I must add).
Mata wont take this in a world cup year as he is already on the outside looking in due to the fact that there are better options at his position, who have done better for Spain.
Chelsea most likely wont sell him to another team In England so where do you all see him going? PSG would be perfect in my opinion.

Re: Where is Mata going in January?
I could see him going to Monaco or back to Valencia. Would also be a decent option for Barcelona. I rate an on form Sanchez higher than Mata, but as of last season Sanchez wasnt showing his best. Dont know if thats changed now though as I havent seen Barca yet this season. PSG would also be an option but they already have enough talent attacking mids.

Re: Where is Mata going in January?
Can't see him go to Madrid unless Isco dissapoints. Both wings are occupied by CR and Bale and knowing Ancelotti's dislike for lazy players, I don't see him wanting him either.
No way Mata will come to Madrid. Maybe Barca, but I doubt that one too.

He's not fit and 100% yet, give it a month or 2 before making this thread.

Re: Where is Mata going in January?
Dont want him at Juve to be honest. Dont rate him that highly, plus we dont use an AM in our system and only use true wingers in the 433 which we use sparingly. Plus in a 433 id honestly rather have Tevez and Vucinic running the wings than Mata.DeviAngel wrote:Madrid or Barca

I could see Monaco.
Madrid do seem to be missing Ozil too so it would make sense to get him in as he can be a creative force.
Cant see him at Barcelona though.

Nobody in Italy can afford him.
QSG is the logical choice.Although it wouldnt be a great career move from his perspective in my opinion.

Re: Where is Mata going in January?
Mata would probably have a similar problem to Ozil in the current formation, he'd be playing out wide, however he's played there before for Chelsea, so it could work. Ronaldo/Bale would move up front. However can't see that happening. We don't really need Mata, although I do prefer him to Bale.
Other clubs, I don't think Atletico/Valencia are good enough, non of the top EPL clubs need him. Italian clubs probably can't afford him. I'd say PSG. Aren't PSG playing Pastore out wide though, so wouldn't Mata be playing out wide?

Re: Where is Mata going in January?
Rather knee-jerk topic if you ask me.
Mata has not been playing due to fitness reasons & has already featured twice for them. Believe, I like you want one of my favourite players out of Chelsea, and understand the logic behind why Mourinho doesn't play him (as Nick succinctly explained to me once).
Yet I don't think Jose is as stupid as he looks, to bench a player who is BY FAR their best. Oscar isn't 1/3 of Mata.
I'm still waiting on concrete signs on his sale. I'm not one to take gospel from Mou/management yet they've repeatedly stated Mata's inclusion in the future, for a reason.

Re: Where is Mata going in January?
Imo Oscar and Mata's level are very close but the former has a higher cieling imo. Mata might be more experienced thus more consistent than Oscar but on pure ability Oscar has done enough to be a starter. Mata has been great for CFC but i don't see him staying because he's not suited to Mou's defensive style.Arquitescu wrote:Rather knee-jerk topic if you ask me.

What is this? A non Chelsea fan who's thinking straight about this and isn't ignoring actual facts? I must be dreaming...Arquitescu wrote:Rather knee-jerk topic if you ask me.

Re: Where is Mata going in January?
He wouldnt be out there if he wasnt fit. That sounds like an excuse people use to try to explain away why their favorite players are in a bad patch. Was he also unfit in the confederations cup final?Arquitescu wrote:Rather knee-jerk topic if you ask me.

You are silly billy and probably trolling no one can be that stupid. Re: Where is Mata going in January?
I dont intend to be too controversial, but I dont see Oscar as anywhere near the level of Mata.
If we are talking work rate and defensive skills which mean he can play in different styles/positions, then sure I get Oscar's value in comparison to Mata.
But overall, I dont see it at all. Oscar is a good player, but I dont see the special player (right now) people seem to talk about.
Very often when I have watched Chelsea I barely see him in terms of moments with the ball. Its almost as if he can go an hour of doing next to nothing but the usual, receive a pass and play it out wide or back to keep possession, but nothing extraordinary in terms of skill or creativity.
For a striker, I understand it, sometimes thats how the game goes, you can only make the easy play and wait for your chance to come. But as a number 10, I would expect a little more initiative. I really do not see the Socrates comparisons stylistically.
Not exactly on topic, but it is Oscar who seems preferred to him at the moment.

100%. While I do not call Oscar overrated per say, I continue struggling in seeing what all his hype is about. The Franchise wrote:I dont intend to be too controversial, but I dont see Oscar as anywhere near the level of Mata.

One adds the Thomas Müller or Claudio Marchisio analogy to describe Oscar a player of intangibles. Yet the former two have influences that range in tangibles beyond Oscar's over-simplistic play. What Oscar excels in is maturity far beyond his years, solid footballing IQ, idea where to pass and accurate shots.
Another debate is his excellent for Brazil in which he undertakes more influence than his club form, yet the teams he usually faces are well below club level.
Too often I see him disappearing within games, taking the easiest option, dribbling into a defender rather than exploiting space...and not just really doing much at all. Believe me, I see all the intangibles that these intelligent players perform and I rarely see it with Oscar.
Mata statistically triumphs him as then you would see one stating that Oscar delves into the realm of intangibles and influence beyond calculation. Yet Mata influences the game on a far superior and technically level then what Oscar (usually in the peripherals) does.
Others argue that Mata wasn't doing as much within Oscar's age. Wrong again. Mata at age 19 was performing on 3 different positions under Emery and far more influential then what Oscar is doing at age 19-22.
No comparison between the players. I wouldn't even call it close.

Re: Where is Mata going in January?
I wouldn't say the difference between Oscar and Mata is abysmal, but it's true that Oscar is still not quite at Mata's level yet. I'd say Hazard is much closer, however, and adding to the fact that Mou prefers more direct players than Mata (which I will rephrase again, is more of a Second Striker than an AM) makes me believe that Mata will leave due to lack of protagonism. Also, Oscar seems to be better suited to Mou's style at the AM position as Oscar tends to let go of the ball more often than Mata who would keep it longer at his feet.
