Biggest transfer window in football history?
Was the 2013 summer transfer window biggest or greatest, want of a better word, transfer window in football history? All of Bale, Cavani, Falcao and Nerman are in the top 10 highest transfer fees. Ozil is the second most expensive Premier League player of all time, Cavani is the most expensive Ligue 1 transfer of all time followed by Falcao, Nerman is the most expensive player bought from a non European league and of course Bale is the most expensive player of all time. The amount of high profile moves that have are stunning (don't start arguing on what is and what is not a high profile signing)
Man Utd: Fellaini
Man City: Negredo, Navas, Fernandinho, Jovetic
Liverpool: Sakho, Illori, Aspas, Mignolet
Arsenal: Ozil
Chelsea: Willian, Eto'o. Schuerlle
Spurs: Paulinho, Soldado, Capoue, Chadli, Chiriches, Lamela, Eriksen
AC Milan: Kaka, Poli
Juventus: Tevez, Llorente, Ogbonna
Napoli: Higuain, Callejon, Albiol, Reina, Rafael
Inter: Icardi, Belfodil, Campagnaro
Roma: Strootman, Gervinho, Benatia
Lazio: Biglia
Fiorentina: Gomez, Joaquin, Illicic
Bayern: Gotze, Alcantara
BVB: Sokratis, Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan
Wolfsburg: Gustavo
PSG: Cavani, Marquinhos, Digne
Monaco: Falcao, Moutinho, Rodriguez, Carvalho, Abidal, Ismat-Mirin, Romero, Toulalan, Kongdobia
Marseille: Thauvin
Real Madrid: Isco, Illara, Carvajal, Bale
Barca: Neymar
Atletico: Alderweild, Villa, Guilavogui
Bernard and Fernando moved to Shaktar, a lot of EPL clubs made good use of the new TV money (Swansea: Bony, Southampton: Osvaldo, Sunderland: Giacherinni etc) and there may be some other high profile signings I missed.
World Cup year, maybe should have expected this.

From Newcastle and Milan perspective, yes, we expected a lot more
But overall, it went full retard. Wenger spent 50 million ffs is this real life?

Re: Biggest transfer window in football history?
No seriously.... especially in the PL.
The massive TV increase and it only just barely broke the record, i expected clubs to spend more if i'm honest.
Obviously there are some isolated incidents but on the whole i expected more.

Inter Milan
Napoli
Bayern Munich
Reason are various (retirement, illness, contract end, sacked etc) but changes are changes.

should of been more, if Woodward wasn't wanking to Fabregas for a month and buying legit targets instead of fantasy ones, we should of done a lot more...2 midfielders, a LB, a wingerGreat Leader Sprucenuce wrote:No seriously.... especially in the PL.

Re: Biggest transfer window in football history?
Yeah it's been pretty big, Che's point is a big one as well. Certainly the biggest I've seen since I've started watching football. Can't speak for before then.
As for expecting more... Yeah a couple teams should have done more but on the whole there was A LOT.

Re: Biggest transfer window in football history?
Its funny seeing that Wenger is finally forced to spend 50M, even he has to join in to compete for talent
This was fuking huge end to the transfer window which already was so packed... all in all the biggest by far in terms of intrigue, amount of players, amount of money, clubs involved, everything.
