Iker is only benched in lolliga. There is no point wasting his energy starting in such a crappy league when he can focus on the more ambitious tournaments such as CL and Copa del rey Proud

Real Madrid can keep him, we don't need Iker unless he wants to be no 2 here but then why move from one bench to another? Besides there are other clubs who might need him like Manchester City or Stoke City when Begovic leaves.

every Spanish player by default has a release clause in his contract, right?

So what you do when you want a Bilbao player is you convince the player to join you and then give him the money to pay himself out of his contract. No need and sense dealing with the club.

you should also know that a player paying his own club to leave a club is considered as scummy and not everyone does it. Case in point, utd with Herrera, and Illarra with madrid. Both made it clear they wouldnt do it because they loved and respected their clubs too much to behave like that.

Yep all of them usually have a release clause in their contract and it's usually 30ME could be more if the player is a spine in that team. The clause is there to stop the big clubs in Spain from taking all the talented players off the other clubs. The only good thing LFP have done really

Most players are usually very attached to their club especially those from the basque county as the clubs only deploy players from around that area (sociedad stopped doing that a while back) and they are considered stars by their fans so they have too much respect to their fans to do such things

both Martinez and Llorente were scumbags for doing what their did. if the club really wanted the player they would try to get the president to negotiate a lower fee and if he doesn't want to they should just pay the release clause and be done with it

I have respect for Atletics way, and I can understand that their president says "we're not going to negotiate in any way with clubs when we do not want the player to leave".

After all, since all of their players have to have some kind of Basque connection, they can't just buy replacements from anywhere.

But sorry, a player is not a "scumbag" if he wants to go and join another club. It's the most normal thing of the world.

So I really don't know what you think Martinez did wrong.

As for Ed and Dave, well, watch out for them trying to get Herrera at a lower price than his release fee AGAIN all january, and then on the last day it's time for imposters at the league association office again.

Lets be realistic here please.Bilbao arent going to negotiate with any teams for their best players unless the buying team activates the clause ,so yeah,lets not leave it at that for now,unless Muniain doesnt sign a new contract then there's a possibility of snapping him up for free in 2015.
