I don't know any Bayern fan that actually says that. We hope for it, but we don't demand it.

Well, probably it is mainly bandwagoners who say that, but they are currently pretty numerous and thus colour the perception of "Bayern fans" as seen by other people XD

Re: Pep has been sent to destroy Bayern
it's just such an idiotic thing to do. we have such a great time right now, I can't remember I ever had the feeling of the club doing that many things right at the same time before.
Especially with our spine of youth players.
Winning every week, and no more borefest 0:1 Bayerndusel wins away at Hertha or something.
And in the CL, just a few years ago every game past the group stages was where we had to edge out the opposition to be able to maybe progress.
To take all that for granted all of sudden, to say "we have to win the CL" strikes me as very stupid. Why spoil the fun by setting impossibly high expectations?

Re: Pep has been sent to destroy Bayern
I have said this previously and I stand by it. You can look at my pre-Pep posts regarding Bayern and see that I'm typically humble when it comes to our aspirations.
However, I was not a fan of hiring Pep, and as he was brought in to do one thing I expect him to meet those expectations. I would be supremely pissed if we forced out a perfectly good manager in Jupp who would of had us primed to potentially repeat what we did last year for someone to waste a year of our "prime" potential due to "transition" which wasn't necessary to begin with.

The Bayern board have been looking for long term coach for a while. Klinsmann was supposed to have been that but I'm sure yall remember what happened to that prospect. There was an opportunity tp attract Guardiola to the club and you don't pass up once in a lifetime opportunities like that.

Exactly. Guardiola wasn't hired to win the CL this year, but to keep us among the favourites to win it over a few years.
Actually winning the CL is contingent on a lot of stuff, it can't be expected. Plus I don't agree with that sentiment that all of a sudden we're heads above other top clubs just by default.
In the meantime, Pep's breaking every record in the Bundesliga, in his first season at the club and in Germany.
I don't know how you could judge him other than a ridiculously big success already.
Also, for Jupp to stop at this point is the best thing that could've happened to him.
I do hope however that after the WC the DFB get their head out of their arses and get rid of Jogi, and that then Jupp can be persuaded to retire from retirement for 4 years of international glory.

Re: Pep has been sent to destroy Bayern
I will let off of Pep if Jupp becomes manager of the German NT
Anyway we can make this happen before the World Cup starts? I guess I'm asking does anyone on this forum have a particular set of skills; skills they have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make them a nightmare for people like Jogi.
I mean if the German FA let Jogi go now, that'll be the end of it. We will not look for them, we will not pursue them. But if they don't, this GL member will look for them, find them, and sack them.

Still don't have the title I want, and I still have to be a realist that we did it against teams far from their prime.
Still feels good though, still feels good.

Re: Pep has been sent to destroy Bayern
Saw us playing for the first time under Pep in person last night..
Pretty good timing that we would secure the title in Berlin
Watching how we play in the stadium instead of on TV is even more strange I have to say.
In a way, there's not even a 'game' going on.
From the kick off we rushed forward, made the spaces extremely tight and didn't let them breathe at all.
Looks really strange if only one half of the field is used for the whole first 45 minutes - Neuer standing 30 meters in front of his goal, sometimes coming up to the half line
Then 0:2 up we take it easy and let them have an attack or two.
The pen I didn't see as I was fetching beers, after the 1:2 we stepped on it again for a while until the 1:3.
Spooky. Complete control.
Only wish Pep had shown himself in front of the curve!!
No beer shower either..

In terms of making teams better, no manager is as good as this man. He raises the level of good players. For me, he is up there with Cruijff, Rinus Michels and Ernst as the best footballing coaches. The man is a freak.

Re: Pep has been sent to destroy Bayern
This is what Cruyff said about Pep recently
"It was clear to me that he didn't go to Bayern with the absolute intention of wanting to change everything. He's the sort who wants to have everything working optimally and when it does, he just changes details.
"That's his gift: precisely why he's a good trainer is because he knows that anything good can always be improved."
